Equipment: What can you tell me about the Easton Mako 2012 stick?

Lots of outlets have good prices on the Easton Mako stick from 2012. Examples:

Why is this stick being marked down so much? Was there some kind of problem with it? Has anyone used one? I'm tempted to pick one up, since it appears to be a high-end stick at a mid-range price, and I'm down to one quality stick at the moment.

The 2013 Makos appear to come in a few varieties of varying quality, but from what I can tell the 2012 only comes in one variety, and the price has been slashed across all retailers. I'd like to know why.

Easton released new sticks all the time now, so the old ones get marked down a ton.

I have last years Mako and it's a really nice stick. It replaced my S19 and that was a little rough at first, but I did have an improvement in stick handling and passing. My shots kind of suffered, but I'm not a big shooter anyways. People complained about the Makos blade wearing faster than normal due to how they put the foam cores in, but I used mine hard for 4 months straight with no issue; but I don't take big shots either. I was skeptical about moving to the mako after seeing so many snap near the heel in WHL games, but I decided to take a chance on a clearance stick. If you like easton sticks and can get a good price ($150ish or less), I say go for it. Great stick for the clearance price.

it took me a game a bit to get the feel right but i have ben on fire with it ever since. great stick for a great price. i may go back and load up stock for my garage

I've actually never used an Easton stick before, and that's one of the reasons I was asking for opinions before jumping in. I use INTs, so I can get one for $130, which is a very attractive price for a high end stick.

The only thing holding me back is that I'm loving my Tron 405, which I can get for under $90.

I've had 5 Makos and they've all broken in the same exact spot. Straight up the middle of the blade, leaving me with a shaft and half a blade. It has ticked me off so much, I went back to Warriors
