What can Babcock do to fix the Leafs shot issues?

Seems like getting out shot is finally getting the better of them. What seems to the be issue? Are they getting the puck taken away from them too often or is it that they can't puncture through the opponents defense?

Honestly, I don't see why this is all on Babcock. If you watched the games recently, the players looked like they weren't interested at all. Yeah, Babcock's system is stifling the offense, but that doesn't mean you stop competing.

More complex issue than just blaming Babs, IMO. Our best players aren't being our best players (looking at you Nylander, Marner, JVR, Kadri).

Babs has stifled the offence. Dump and chase doesn't work offensively for arguably the fastest team on paper in the NHL. I mean you have Marner, Nylander, potentially Kapanen and then a back end of two great PMD in Gardiner and Rielly, and you're playing "throw the puck up and chip it in". No Matthews obviously hurts. If he can strike a balance between responsible two way play and blazing speed, they'll be fine. They've looked horrible the last 7 games. Being carried by one pairing and goaltending.

The weirdest part about our dump and chase game is that we’re not maintaining possession over the red line, dumping it into a corner and attacking a defender, were using a long stretch pass from our d to a stationary man at the red line who tips the puck deep and go chase.

The way we’re doing it, the opposing d knows exactly where the puck is going and is already moving that way based on the flow of the game where if we actually maintained possession over the red line then dumped it, it would force the d to hold the blue line letting us get an extra few steps on the d man while he tries to corral the puck in the corner. Not to mention it actually gives us the opportunity to actually skate the puck into the zone as well if they try to cheat for the dump

Even with Matthews in the line up we’re playing him with two grinders who play dump and chase grind the boards style hockey which is not Matthews game. We’re constantly giving up possession so that we can try to get it back and often don’t. He needs to fix the lines and scroll back Hyman and Komarovs minutes.

Stop playing Roman "super icings" Polak....stop playing Nylander on the 4th line....stop playing a dump and chase style.
