This is impossible. The period encapsulates the British Invasion, the best Beatles albums, art rock and early punk/New Wave. I'm putting the Beatles on the side line as they would eat up at least three or four spots on this list.

Plastic Ono Band--Plastic Ono Band
The Kinks--The Kinks' Kontroversy
The Clash--London Calling
David Bowie--Low
The Velvet Underground and Nico--The Velvet Underground
Bob Dylan--Highway 61 Revisited
Led Zeppelin--Led Zeppelin IV
Pet Sounds--The Beach Boys
Neil Young--After the Goldrush
Bruce Cockburn--In the Falling Dark

HM: Yes--Close to the Edge; The Who--Who's Next; Pink Floyd--Animals; Neil Young--On the Beach; Rolling Stones--Exile on Main Street
