I've been listening to Nirvana's first studio album Bleach, and they did well.

I'm posting these in random order.

1. Bridge over troubled water - S & G - The singing on the title track is horrible but The Boxer, Cecilia, and the rest are great.
2. Synchronicity - The Police
3. Random Access Memories - Daft Punk
4. Let it be - The Beatles - Most of it was recorded before Abbey Road. It was released one month after AR.
5. Electric Ladyland - Jimi Hendrix
6. Back to Black - Amy Winehouse
7. In Utero - Nirvana
8. Closer - Joy Division
9. Blackstar - David Bowie - This album is great.
10. Pearl - Janis Joplin

I am confused you talk about Bleach, which is Nirvana's first album, but your thread title is best FINAL album.

Have to think The Beatles need a mention here with Let It Be .. or if you don't consider that to be their final album, Abbey Road as well.

Leonard Cohen – "You Want It Darker"

It was generally known this was to be his final album since he was sick.

If live albums count, 98.12.28 Otokotachi no Wakare by Fishmans, for me.

Not a lot of bands end their career with the best versions of most of their best songs, done live, including by far the best version of their magnum opus as the final track.

Let it Be is pretty weak, IMO, especially by their standards.
