Why is Dallas Eakins mentioned so often?
I actually didn't mention Eakins (but I did post his picture).

Maybe you're right, and maybe I (we) am being unfair to him. I also don't think he's as terrible as was made out. He was the wrong person at the just the worst-possible time, in a perfect-storm of bad.

Still, he was the leader of the team at a time when the franchise hit rock-bottom. I think the few months prior to his firing was the nadir of the franchise. And there was that 'swarm defence'...

Hit song "Double Vision" (1978) by Foreignor, was inspired by an incident on April of 1978 between the Rangers & Flyers. NYR goalie John Davidson was hit by a Flyer and left the game. The band was listening to the game, and heard the announcers say 'double vision'.
