It does'nt sound really serious to me. They have'nt annonced any schedule yet and as far as i know, Québec does'nt even have an arena to play in.

Looks like a poor's man IHL to me.

The old WHA also lowered the bar when the NHL was drafting 20 year olds. Gretzky, Messier, Hartsburg, amongst others, started as teenagers in the WHA.


Mark Messier - the only WHA alum still playing in the NHL.

Just referencing that article:

I can't imagine why anyone would draft Ovechkin with a high pick in such a draft. Even if there is a lockout next year, it's almost certain he would simply play another season in the RSL. Would the WHA even be paying salaries that would beat what he's making now?
