I will edit this after the draft lottery and each play-off round to make it as accurate as possible.

1. Columbus Blue Jackets - Nail Yakupov: He is clear and away the best player in the draft. No reason to not select him.

2. Edmonton Oilers - Ryan Murray: Despite what is believed by some of their fan base, Grigorenko is not the consensus number 2 and I can't see the Oilers passing up a deep need and BPA. They will shore up their defence with Murray.

3. Montreal Canadiens - Mikhail Grigorenko: This could be Galchenyuk here, it depends on what Timmins sees in the play-offs. They will take one of the two big talented centers and I believe it will be Mikhail.

4. New York Islanders - Matthew Dumba: The Islanders have a lot of good offensive talent in their system but they lack an explosive talent on their back-end. This guy will be like PK Subban, he will push the pace, make plays, and rattle heads.

5. Toronto Maple Leafs - Alex Galchenyuk: Toronto take the big center that Montreal doesn't. In this case, it's Galchenyuk.

6. Anaheim Ducks - Jacob Trouba: Anaheim could use an anchor to help out Fowler. Trouba is the perfect minute eating defenseman who is rugged and can drop the gloves.

7. Minnesota Wild - Filip Forsberg: A good winger with size to compliment Mikko Koivu gives the Wild a promising future on attack.

8. Carolina Hurricanes - Radek Faksa: Needing a second line center to slot behind Eric Staal, the Hurricanes take the best center left in Faksa. A big body, intelligent, lacks the elite offensive skills.

9. Winnipeg Jets - Morgan Rielly: The Jets get a PP quarterback who has smooth skating and slick puck skills. Will compliment their style of play going forward.

10. Tampa Bay Lightning - Griffin Reinhart: Tampa Bay needs a promising blue-liner to help Hedman out back there. Reinhart is a Luke Schenn type D, not great with the puck, but is physical and can rub gets out along the boards.

11. Washington Capitals from Colorado - Sebastien Collberg: Far and away the best player left on the board. Capitals make their attack that much stronger with the fast skating sniper.

12. Buffalo Sabres - Brendan Gaunce: Another team that needs help and size through the middle. They take the guy who is destined to be a player at the NHL level, can throw the body and has an NHL level shot.

13. Dallas Stars - Teuvo Teravainen: Lacking dynamic offence on their team they take the slight but offensive Teravainen.

14. Calgary Flames - Olli Maata: There will be a changing of the guard in Calgary. One thing that needs to be revamped is their defence. Maata gives them a solid all-around defenseman to build around.

15. Ottawa Senators - Pontus Aberg: Their head scout loves Swedish talent and you can't get much more talented than Aberg in the first round. A real wizard with the puck.

16. Washington Capitals - Derrick Pouliot: After taking a forward with the Colorado pick. They opt to take a talented D-man to help their back end.

17. Los Angeles Kings - Cody Ceci: Had an impressive camp with Team Canada, Ceci is a smooth skating defenseman who can make his partner play calm and responsible.

18. San Jose Sharks - Ludvid Bystrom: This Swedish D man has risen late in the season. Could help round out the Sharks D.

19. Chicago Blackhawks - Zemgus Girgensons: This Latvian forward hits like a brick and can chip in some goals. Could finally be the missing piece of their forward crop that has been gone since Byfuglien left.

20. New Jersey Devils - Matthew Finn: I don't think the Devils need more D in their system right now but they take the BPA.

21. Detroit Red Wings - Martin Frk: A player highly touted with a lot of talent but some weaknesses? Right up Detroit's alley. They make out like bandits.

22. Philadelphia Flyers - Brady Skjei: Looking for a big defenceman to replace Pronger. Skjei could be the anchor on the back-end who uses his big frame to eat tough minutes and ensure the minutes player in the defensive end are to the perimeter.

23. Nashville Predators - Colton Sissons: A big bodied scorer who can play in a lot of situations. Would look great involved in their balanced attack.

24. Pittsburgh Penguins - Slater Koekkoek: A blueliner that will come in when one of their free agent acquisitions go to other pasteures. Nothing fancy but he gets it done. Which is all you need in Pittsburgh.

25. Florida Panthers - Dalton Thrower: Makes the leap from 2nd rounder into the late first round for his rugged play but also offensive upside.

26. Phoenix Coyotes - Nicholas Kerdiles: Starved for some offensive talent on their team that can produce. They take a chance on Kerdiles and hopes he reaches his ceiling.

27. Boston Bruins - Mike Matheson: They go for the American Blueliner who shows some rugged instincts.

28. St. Louis Blues - Tomas Hertl: The Blues know how to find gems, can they do it with Kekelainen gone? If they take Hertl, they just might. Would give a great 1b center combination with Berglund.

29. New York Rangers - Jarrod Maidens: They take the best player left on the board.

30. Vancouver Canucks - Stefan Matteau; They continue to look for rugged wingers to help the Sedins plight in the play-offs.

Pretty good, Anaheim will probably take the BPA in Forsberg since they will most likely loose Selane and Koivu in the next 2 years to retirement.

6. ANA - Forsberg
7. MIN - Trouba

Everything else looks solid.

Palmieri, DSP, Rakell, Holland? I think they get Trouba.

Good mock so far. Definitely like the TT pick for the Stars, especially if he falls to us. Would prefer a center, but he's too good to pass up.

If only we could get Girgensons too... :P

I REALLY don't think Winnipeg is going to take Rielly when they already have Byfuglien and Enstrom.

Depends...

It really depends on....hey wtf? You forgot Etem :naughty: it depends on what Murray considers to be more necessary because if Trouba does go the college route like people are speculating, both players will take just as long as the other to get an NHL spot. I wouldn't mind either way, but a forward core of Getzlaf, Perry, Ryan, Etem, Forsberg, Palmieri, Holland, Smith-Pelly could be filthy. But so could a blueline that looks like

Fowler-Trouba
Sbisa-Schultz (if he signs
Beauchemin-Vatanen

1. Columbus - Nail Yakupov

Great skill set, will be great with Nash

2. Edmonton - Mikhal Grigorenko

Oilers will have 1-2 punch with RNH and him, have Dman prosepcts, need some forwards.

3. Montreal - Matthew Dumba

Soild future 1st pairing with Subban

4. New York Islanders - Cody Ceci

Islanders have a tendence to select prospects ahead of were they should go, but this pick could still work out.

5. Toronto - Alex Galchenyuk

1st/2nd line centre with him and Kadri, could play next year.

6. Anahium - Griffin Reinhart

Tough Dman, will help future.

7. Minny - Flip Forsberg

Another Finn, will help top 6 with Granlund, Phillps and Coyle already there.

8. Carolina - Morgan Rielly

Great Dman, will be good with Faulk and McBain

9. Winnipeg - Jacob Trouba

Nice pick-up, will be a force on the back-end

10. Tampa Bay - Radek Faksa

Could be moved to the wing, or could replace Vinny.

11. Washington (from COL) - Derrick Pouilot

Another Dman, with no Russians avabile, they will settle for a clutch Canadian. :sarcasm:

12. Buffalo - Brendan Gance

Will be a good centre, needs to find a more chippy edge to his game.

13. Dallas - Matt Finn

A Dman to help repair there back-end, it will be great for them.

14. Washington - Martin Frk

Concussion sidelined him for 4 months, a what look like a 1st overall pick last year is a sleeper in this draft, him and Baertishi will help cover the cut of Iginla.

15. Ludvig Bystrom

Another Swedish Dman, will spend at least another year in Sweden.

I'd like to think that if Ryan Murray was on the board, the Islanders would be all over him.

Possible oversight on your part, but you honestly see him dropping out of the top 15?!?

This pick belongs to Buffalo. It went to the Sabres in the Gaustad deal.

If the board broke this way, I think the Sabres would draft Hertl at #23. We need centers in a bad way.

I can't see Minnesota passing up Reinhart for Forsberg if Trouba is gone by the 7th pick. Forsberg would add to Minnesota's forward depth -- which is actually quite good right now -- but the Wild currently are in need of defense more than anything else.
