Big game!

Habs sit one point up on Ottawa but the Sens have 3 games in hand.

Montreal currently 2 points behind the Red Wings for a playoff spot but Detroit plays tonight at home against the Kings (go Kings!)

Habs schedule this weeks is Wed vs Ott, Thur @ Det Sat vs Det. This week could really change the division standings.

Assuming Price goes Wednesday and Claude makes his decision for Thursday after that.

What can happen

Price on Wednesday,

1- Weber doesn't play wednesday and is put in IR, call up Lindgren and plays thursday.
2- Davidson traded, call up Lindgren and plays thursday.
3- Play Niemi.

999. Play Price

I don't want to see Price playing back to back games. Give Detroit away game and win the Home game on saturday

The thought of calling up Lindgren for Thursday has definitely crossed my mind. Also agree about Price playing back to back. Not a good idea.

I very much doubt they'll want to see Price play B2B so soon after returning from a rehab stint.

The way it's going, no reason to believe Price won't shine again, against Ottawa.

Price never plays back to back, so not worried about that. I expect he gets Wednesday & Saturday with Niemi getting Thursdays call.

Well, if the team is going to make their push, now is the time. I don’t think either Ottawa or Detroit are much to write home about and assuming our guys play a full 60 minutes, we could walk away with 6-points.

Got to stay out of the box though. I know it felt nice to win last night, but we got lucky the CBJ PP is almost as bad as ours. If this was the 2016-2017 CBJ PP, it could have been very ugly.

Julien finally realized that Max NEVER scores on the PP and moved him to the second wave, thank God! Now watch him score one and get back to the first wave next game....

It's amazing that no coach on the team has clued to the fact that in order to take advantage of one-timers...you have to have two players at the point who shoot from the same side.

Drouin & Jerabek or Schlemko should be on the 1st unit. Then you could set up like

Drouin-----------------------------------Galchenyuk

----------------->Jerabek/Schlemko

You can use Weber & Petry on unit #2

We've had a lot of guys who had good one timers and it never really payed dividends like I thought it would. Cammalleri and now Galchenyuk. I like having Drouin and Galchenyuk on opposite sides like you have them here. With Weber on the point it's a constant threat, and Drouin could hit Chucky for the one timer. Badabing badaboom.

Thinking if Price plays well against the Sens, he goes again on Thursday. These are very important games. Price had over 3 weeks of rest, he’s probably wanting to get as many games as possible to keep getting his legs back.

Only problem with Weber in the middle there is Drouin can't pass across to him from the left point, so he has to go through the box to get it to Galchenyuk which is a difficult pass to make and really plays into what most teams are trying to force teams to do.

Think about when the Habs had the most success on their PP.

- Markov played the left point/half wall
- Souray played the right point and would rotate to the middle of the ice
- Kovalev played the right half wall

Markov QB'd the PP from his position, and he'd force teams to either overplay Souray, which opened up Kovalev, if they overplayed Kovalev, Souray was open.

Drouin plays the Markov role for the Habs, Galchenyuk plays the Kovalev role...

We're missing the left handed point shot...

Of course it also helped that Souray had a bomb

Kirk Muller. Offensive coach whizbang, PP coach specialist.

His coaching was inept under Martin. Just like it is now.

I see what you mean. It's not an ideal set up since you kind of want Weber and Drouin in the same place. But I think if Drouin and Weber rotate you can open up a lot of seams just from teams overplaying Weber. Drouin shouldn't need much to hit Chucky, and you can always triangulate to Weber through Drouin at the middle point position. It would be better if Chucky were the set up guy but he's not, really.

Using Drouin in the middle of the umbrella is also another option the should consider

Weber can't use his one timer when Drouin plays in the spot where he usually blasts the puck.

And he can't set up Chucky on the other side for a one timer because he needs to make a backhand pass or completely turn his body to make a decent pass.

If Drouin plays in the left circle and Chucky in the right circle the guy at the point should be left handed, it gives a lot more options.

Drouin likes to fake a slapper and then slide the puck to the point for a one timer but Weber can't one time that puck because he's right handed...
