We are the fastest team in the league period.

Speed isn't all about flat out straight line skating speed. I would argue very few teams move the puck faster than Montreal. That's where you see Markov's value - he can hit a streaking winger with a backhand saucer pass tape to tape through the neutral zone 120 feet away. Very few can move the puck as well or as quickly as Markov. Team him up with Subban and it almost isn't fair.

This... It terms of skating speed we are not top 5. In terms of transition speed we are definitely top 5

Maybe once the winning streak ends, we'll be spared threads about self-aggrandizement. Another reason opposing fans hate us with a passion.

Quoted for truth.

These threads have to stop. People should be humble and always remember that teams are never as good as they look when they win and never as bad as they look when they lose.

It'll be less embarrassing when we go on a losing streak or fail to reach the ECF again...

What a bold statement as 2 of 15 teams make it!

Fastest team in the NHL...?
Maybe we're top 3 or top 5 in the NHL? (no idea).
(especially with speed demons Byron and Bournival in the lineup).

Subban? Subban is an awesome skater and fast.
(one of the best skating dmen in the NHL, imo, and fast, as well).

Slow? Markov is turtle slow (Hal Gill was slow but smart/effective with positioning). Markov can never ever be out of position or else we're screwed (same with Hal Gill...he was turtle slow, so he always had to be in good position). Markov cannot ever cheat anymore...never.

Great skaters like Subban can catch up to some skaters if there's a slight give away...Markov can't skate back...game over (breakaway).

Good, fast skaters:
Byron, Weise, PK Subban, Beaulieu, Bournival, Pleks, Pacioretty, Beaulieu, Eller, our 4th line is pretty quick, and more...
We're faster with Bournival and Byron...that's for sure.

Subban actually is not very fast. He can handle the puck in full flight and catches teams standing still but almost never catches a forward that gets past him. Beaulieu and Petry are significantly faster than Subban. He has great balance and strength but has a choppy inefficient stride that hampers his acceleration. His edge work is off the charts but he is an ugly straight ahead skater.

We actually reached the ECF twice in the last 6 years ...

With Semin and Markov in the line-up, we can't be the fastest.
I'm afraid that Markov slowness will be exploited in a PO where we face the same team at least 4 times.
