Claim habs are to fasters will be hard...

But claiming this team rely on speed is must easier!

Just read the last comment from Ken Hitchcock for example

Other fanbase do the same whenever they are on a streak, even if we stopped posting on the main board permanently we would still be the most hated fanbase.

Not suggesting other fanbases are better than we are, just that there is some merit in at least trying to stay humble. As for what happens on the maim board, that's beyond the scope of rational appreciation. :sarcasm:

The main board is the epitome of stupidity of the highest degree... Ffs yesterday people were arguing about stopping the play when Raffl collapsed on the bench. I take most of what is said there with a grain of salt.

Fastest team in the NHL...?
Maybe we're top 3 or top 5 in the NHL? (no idea).
(especially with speed demons Byron and Bournival in the lineup).

Subban? Subban is an awesome skater and fast.
(one of the best skating dmen in the NHL, imo, and fast, as well).

Slow? Markov is turtle slow (Hal Gill was slow but smart/effective with positioning). Markov can never ever be out of position or else we're screwed (same with Hal Gill...he was turtle slow, so he always had to be in good position). Markov cannot ever cheat anymore...never.

Great skaters like Subban can catch up to some skaters if there's a slight give away...Markov can't skate back...game over (breakaway).


Good, fast skaters:
Byron, Weise, PK Subban, Beaulieu, Bournival, Pleks, Pacioretty, Beaulieu, Eller, our 4th line is pretty quick, and more...
We're faster with Bournival and Byron...that's for sure.

If not the fastest, the habs are near the top. They seems to be able to catch anyone and that is why Therrien supposedly uses the top and chase method because he is that confident in team speed.

Speed isn't all about flat out straight line skating speed. I would argue very few teams move the puck faster than Montreal. That's where you see Markov's value - he can hit a streaking winger with a backhand saucer pass tape to tape through the neutral zone 120 feet away. Very few can move the puck as well or as quickly as Markov. Team him up with Subban and it almost isn't fair.
