Big Game Story: WCSF’s Round 2. The teams split four regular-season meetings, with the home team winning each time. Three of the four games were one-goal affairs, including one that went to a shootout. The Los Angeles Kings will have home-ice advantage in a playoff series for the first time 1992. Will they be able to take advantage of it in this all-California series ? The KINGS need to remind The SHARKS, KINGS FANS and THEMSELVES which team just won a Stanley Cup Championship. GO KINGS GO !!!

Forward & Team Captain DUSTIN BROWN said:
"They really thrive on their power play, You look at their stretches during the regular season when they went on those tears, it's because their power play was really good. Our PK was good last series, but it's going to have to be even better against these guys."
Forward MIKE RICHARDS on Feelings after Win: said:
"I guess relieved. It was an extremely tough, close, hard-hitting series, and I think a lot of guys have some bumps and bruises, and a couple days here before Anaheim gets to play, so we’ve got some time to recover. It’s a hard hockey team to play against over there. They grind it out, and we grind it out. It’s definitely a hard-nosed series."
Goaltender JONATHAN QUICK on Win: said:
"We kept competing. Obviously we were down two-nothing. It’s kind of funny, on the flight home after the second game…I felt like the plane ride home from some losses, the team was a little more down than we were after being down two-nothing…Guys kind of kept upbeat, and we had confidence in ourselves and we played hard."
Forward JUSTIN WILLIAMS on Playing at Staples Center: said:
"One thing that every team says that they want is they want to make their home building a tough place to play in. We played well at home all year, but it seems like there’s a sense of comfort when you’re within our dressing room, and it’s just the players in there, and you look around and you know what everyone’s capable of, and you know that come crunch time, they’re going to get it done for you. I don’t have any doubt in my mind that that’s the case when other players look around the room as well, and that confidence is something that we’ve earned and something that we’ve been through, and we’re feeling we can beat anybody. I’m not sure if Staples four or five years ago people or other teams shuddered that they had to come to the Staples Center to play,” he said. “I don’t think there was that feeling when you’re with another team. But I think over the last little while we’ve made it a tough place to play, and that just doesn’t include us. That includes the fans, too. The fans have done an awesome job of getting us revved up, especially for playoff games. We’ve just been able to start off on the right foot,” Williams said. “We’ve been able to get ourselves going mentally, and when we weren’t ready to go right off the hop, we had a goalie that bailed us out."
Head coach DARRYL SUTTER on Round 2 against Sharks: said:
"We’ll be ready. I don’t have big concerns. I mean, both teams have had two or three days off, and they’ve had a couple injuries. We have. I’m just more anxious to get playing more than concerned.” (On San Jose’s dynamic) … “I think they’re constant…has been their goaltending. It’s been really good for ‘em. Obviously they’re a veteran group on the back end with Hannan, Stuart and Boyle. It really gives them always somebody on the ice – and you could probably put Vlasic in that group, too. So their balance up front, I think they moved guys around. Burns really complemented Joe, and Patrick and Couture, and then you go to Pavelski and Wingels, and with Torres coming in, it gives them good balance on their lines. And they say it too – it has impacted their team, made them play more of a straight line game, and you can see that." (On the Kings-Blues series) … “There wasn’t much ebb and flow in the series, quite honest. It was so close. It was always one goal, other than the 2-0 lead here briefly for St. Louis in the last game. It was sort of shift-to-shift competition the whole way.” (On whether the series was “nerve-wracking” for him) …“No, I’m used to it, no. I guess if you’re young and inexperienced it would be a little different. It was hard on the players because it was a hard series to play. [Reporter: One shift could swing it one way.] Tonight was probably different than the other games because their team – if they don’t score, they’re going home.”

2013WCQFScheduleRnd1_zpsb831dcdd.png

NOTE : Regarding LARGE SIZE IMAGES / YELLOW RE-SIZE IMAGE BARS ABOVE PICS, let me offer up one nice little suggestion ...
This will get rid of those pesky yellow resize bars over the top of some larger pictures ... as they annoy the hell out of me and maybe they do you also ?
- Go into/click on your "USER CP" {control Panel} up top left in the red bars
- on the left under 'Settings & Options' click on "Edit Options"
- scroll down to 'Thread Display Options', and then 'Please Select the Resize Mode'
- click on the 'Drop Down List Box' over on the Right of 'Please Select the Resize Mode'
- select it to "KEEP ORIGINAL SIZE"
- SAVE your selections !
There ... now don't that look MUCH BETTER

Whenever the 2nd round comes around, I forget how hard it is to get to this point until I remember that only 8 teams are left. That being said, the 2nd round isn't good enough boys! Let's kill the sharks and move onto the final four! KILL JEFF KILL!

This series will come down to shutting down Couture and Pavelski, as well as getting into Niemi's head. JQ will have to be strong again and protect his crease!

We can beat these guys! We did it to win home ice, now lets take advantage of it!!!!!!!!!!

Hope to see our puck possession game return. Sharks have a very good PP, so we must remain disciplined and stay out of the box. Throw the body, capitalize on our chances, and take the lead in the series. Go Kings Go!!!

I've just been DVRing everything on all the channels NBC uses for games during the game's time slot.

I'm very interested to see how the Kings play against a team without such a tenacious forecheck. Our breakouts should be better, and we all know the King's offense starts by getting the puck out of the back end quickly. Speed is needed to pressure SJ's solid defense.

It should also be interesting to see how our D handles the size and skill of the Sharks up front. They don't have a lot of scoring power on their back end since Burns moved up, forcing their defense to handle the puck more is definitely the lesser of two evils.

I doubt it. We missed like half of the first period in game 2 waiting for the Habs/Sens game to end, and Pittsburgh is involved in this game, so all bets are off.

LOL! Canucks fans are rooting for the Guppies even though they are fresh off that sweep. There's no doubt in my mind now that we really are their most hated team.
