It shows that the Canucks are actually 2W 1L this year, with him as the ref. Oilers are 2W 4L with Sutherland as the official. Sutherland and both linesmen are from BC.

Based on that, Oiler fans should have more of a beef (pardon the pun) with the official assignment.

It's a long history that goes back to the 2011 Stanley Cup final where he was the ref for 3 of the games. The particular incident that many Canucks fans remember is when Marchand punched Daniel Sedin in the face numerous times after the whistle but no penalty was called on Marchand. Instead Sutherland gave Sedin a misconduct for complaining about it.
