Do something to help Georgiev get his confidence back. Send two gorgeous hookers to his hotel room, anything. Whatever it takes
Step 1. Give him some hard drugs
Step 2. Make him believe he's playing the Rags
Step 3. ???
Step 4. Profit

Step 3. Georgie goes on a bad trip which forces Bednar to start Provy

How do people not understand that you have another playoff team that is both a higher seed and is trying their best to score that even the best defense is going to allow 20 shots?

We played great. Every statician says we should have only allowed 2 goals. The Avs can score 3 goals all day.

This is solely on Georgie. If you're expecting our defense to be perfect all the time, this isn't the team for you and it's not realistic. Expecting your goalie to do the absolute bare minimum is very realistic. Any AHL goalie would have let in 6 at worst and that gets you OT. Georgie is cooked. The defense was FINE.

Are they NHL backup caliber? Probably not.

But Georgie is throwing up ECHL performances and I am being generous. You can do no worse than him.
It's very rare for something to be only one player's fault. In this case it was. Georgiev was that bad.

But let's look at the Jets goals again just in case.

Goal 1:

goal1.png

Was his vision obstructed here?
It's a straight shot from the blueline, no deflections.
What led to this? We lose a 2v2 board battle, puck goes to the blue line, passes to another Jet at the blue line. At this point a Jet player backs down past the blue line and Lehtonen decides to back off. Another Jets pass at the blue line to the free guy, who shoots and scores.
My verdict: His fault.

Goal 2:

Jets throw it down the ice. Georgiev stops it behind the net. Georgiev passes to Manson who's free, but the puck is bouncing.
Manson tries to pass to Wood, but fumbles his pass and the puck goes in front of the goal.
A Jets player is the first to it and gets a prime opportunity.
My verdict: Partly his fault.

Goal 3:

goal3.png

Mittelstadt loses a puck battle. Jet guy passes to the next one behind the goal, no Avs at the boards.
He comes from behind the net, Toews tries to steal the puck from him, but he manages to pass.
Manson watches as the pass goes past him to the guy he's defending, who then scores.
Georgiev slides from one post to the other, but the puck is raised on the shot, no chance.
My verdict: Not his fault.

Goal 4:

goal4.png

Avs lose the puck in the offensive zone on a Makar low chance shot(pass?). Jets player makes a pass, but the receiving player falls to his knees before it gets to him.
Makar goes for the puck to keep it in zone, but actually just skates past it as it slides past both players.
Jets get a 2-on-1 as Makar is now misplaced. Good defending, Jet forced to shoot.
Puck seems to go 5-hole.
My verdict: Mostly his fault.

Goal 5:

Puck battle at the boards. Jets take down Rantanen who's slow to get up, touching his face.
Someone covers for him to make it 2v2 at the boards, but Jets win by making the pass.
Only MacKinnon defending the Jets player. He skates by the net, Georgiev extends his leg in time for a save, but he's too far out from the posts and the puck finds space to go in.
My verdict: Partly his fault.

Goal 6:

Jets power play, normal one-timer shot from the faceoff dot that Georgiev is positioned to save, but still lets in shortside.
No picture needed. Georgiev knows too, he was mad after it.
My verdict: His fault.

Goal 7:

goal7.png

Jets take a low chance shot, goes wide, battle at the boards ensues.
Toews is late to keep his guy, Manson positions to prevent him from getting to the goal.
Pass gets through to the guy Lehtonen is keeping. He gets a good shot off to the top shelf.
My verdict: Not his fault.

Total:
3 on Georgiev.
2 partly on him.
2 not on him.

I suppose the conclusion is that Georgiev had an awful game, but others made defensive mistakes too.
E: Some names might be wrong because of low quality video, I tried.

So the game ends 6-4 at worst. Minus those 3 from Georgie.

Again, Our starter shit the bed and cost us game 1. End of story.

And if he doesnt get his shit together tonight i really fear Mac could go after him and we get a locker-room-brawl.

The NHL network just did a good breakdown on Avs defensive mistakes and goals allowed by Georgiev and it’s the same thing I’ve been saying. The defensive breakdowns are kind of breakdowns which you need a good goalie to make saves, and since we don’t have that goalie, Avs need to stop making those mistakes.

The kind of mistakes they make are easily avoidable. They are lazy brain farts if everyone pays attention to smallest of details, those mistakes won’t happen. They need to avoid those mistakes because they know Georgiev is not gonna stop the puck. That’s the only thing they can do to win this round since we don’t have another goalie option.

Exactly that. You can't turn a Fiat 500 (Georgiev) into a Ferrari. As I've said before,
you have to play differently in front of Georgiev than you do in front of Roy.

There’s literally nothing you can do to win with a goalie who’s as bad as Georgiev was on Sunday. Unless you’re creating a 6 man wall in front of the goalie.

This is such a mess.

Mack alone with the Jets player? Rants being slow to get up and touching his face to draw a penalty seconds before the goal?

Where is the defense in all this? Covering Rants who decided to stop playing?

That's exactly the kind of BS that needs not to happen regardless of who's in net.

Thoughts on putting Kovalenko in over Kiviranta? Seems like a logical choice to me, at least it lets us see what we may have with him. I know Kiviranta made some decent plays in game 1, but I find that he is easily outmuscled and loses most board battles.

And of course we have no idea what Annunene's injury status is.
He's still ill, no doubt about that. He didn't skate yesterday, and they would not have called up Prosvetov if Annunen was healthy enough to even back up.

Organization needs to set their priorities straight. What good is it to have your #1 (whatever you think about Georgiev), #2 and #4 goalies with the roster, and Prosvetov (#3) with the Eagles? I should be 1-3 with the Avs.

Actually, Holm might be #5, if Miner is #4. Bednar didn't have the guts to put Holm in the net on Sunday. If he's that uncomfortable with the idea, why was he up in the first place?
