The vaunted Colorado defense and goaltending that we heard about before the series ad nauseam let up 6 goals. Marginally better netminding from the Oilers evens this series tonight.

Well the latter isn't starting so there's that. Our depth is absolutely putrid, although I guess to their credit the bottom two lines popped a goal for the first time in a few months.
Yeah, I was only half kidding on kuemper. He hasn’t been great and neither has frank so it’s 6 of one, 1/2 dozen of other for me. There were some solid takeaways from last game for the oilers though, as you said the bottom 6 played well and that should help the depth if it continues.

Overall, I liked the way the top d pair handled the load of the big guns on Edmonton but they really need to limit the high danger chances against your team, they are so opportunistic.

So Kuemper is out, Francouz in, Justis Annunen backs up.

Smith is starter, Koskinen backs up.

Has there ever been a series where the starting and back up goalies seems so insignificant, truly. They are all such wildcards, you have zero expectations and have no idea what you are going to get. Personally, I still expect plenty of goals and would go with the over bets until the make the line 9.0… then I might think about it.

Gotta go with my boys, Oiler with the 7-4 victory to even the series.

I was looking at Francouzs stats and saw he had a .923 playing 31 games last season for Colorado, doesn't look that bad tbh, I could swear at times the whole oilers fanbase would've killed for a .923 goalie...
That was 2019-20. He missed the entire 2020-21 season with an injury suffered in the series against Dallas a couple of years ago. If he hadn't, I think he'd be a starter on a middling team.
