Jordan is the greatest professional team sport athlete ever.... and I rooted against him pretty much his whole career (excluding when he played against Georgetown as a freshman and in the '84 Olympics).

Chamberlain is the only NBA player that approached Gretzky level of dominance but he didn't get the championships and his sustained peak probably wasn't as high. It was pretty close though.
