Wonder if Isles are able to keep the 2nd place in the metro to have the home ice advantage over Pittsburgh. Even though it won't change anything for the outcome of that series. It's seems like another Caps-Pens 2nd round series will be played this year.

Backstrom and Ovi both collapsing on the goal meant their PK got super narrow and gave Carlson a shooting gallery of deflections - like it

I said earlier in the season, when their efforts were consistently lousy, that this team could make the playoffs in talent alone. This was one of those games. Zero effort (except Hags single handedly killing off all the penalties), but prevailed on talent alone.

We'll see with this murderers row final schedule a little more how this team pays when they give a shit. They will need to if they care about winning the Metro. But I'm still not sure they do. I think this team had had its eyes on the big prize since day 1.

They did gave some legends, though. Brodeur, Stevens, Niedermayer. Guys like holik were effective too. And at least Devils provided a counterweight to the DET, CO teams of that era. I didn’t mind the devils back then, compared to the Pens, Rags, Isles, and Flyers anyway

I have to disagree the Devils are still my most despised team of all time because of the clutch & grab era and making hockey suck for a while. I have deep emotional scars from that time...
