This is a very intresting read about the future NBA tv deal and with this quote: Zaslav said Warner Bros. Discovery (formerly WarnerMedia) has favorable deals for the NCAA men’s basketball tournament, NHL and Major League Baseball Postseason and that “we don’t have to have the NBA,” per Joe Flint of The Wall Street Journal.

This is probably just a negotiation tactic because they don't want to pay close to 75 billion this time around.

Wasn't there a part of the new NHL deal that NHL Games would be streamed on HBO Max? Why couldn't they also stream NBA games too. HBO Max was probably the best streamer a year ago but it is a shadow of it's former self. If you have this big streamer, and you raise prices, use it.

It's true. The main reason Turner Sports/TNT is considered a viable sports broadcaster is their successful NBA broadcasts.

Silver would laugh this bozo out of the room. TNT needs the NBA far more than vice versa.

If they don't fork over the money the NBA wants, someone else will.

I think Zaslav is ok with that tbh. If the actual profit Warner makes over expenditure on the NBA deal isn't ridiculous, they probably do want to cut it. They are going scorched earth in regards to cuts trying to reduce spending by billions post merger.

The thing is that Silver wants the NBA to get like 75 billion from these deals so it's going to be intresting to see if he can get something close to that.

Would he though? If TNT were truly out, who would ESPN be bidding against? Outside streaming, there aren’t really many players left? I mean NBC is gone, and Fox likely can’t support something that big?
