Hawkcap already posted this in the prospect thread but I thought it could use its own thread.

Source: Vince Hinostroza agrees to terms with Blackhawks, leaving Notre Dame early

Notre Dame sophomore forward Vince Hinostroza has agreed to terms on a three-year entry-level contract with the Chicago Blackhawks and will forgo his final two collegiate seasons, according to a source.

The 20-year-old Hinostroza, who is 5-foot-9 and 180 pounds, finished his sophomore season with 11 goals and 33 assists in 42 games. He was tied for fourth in the nation in assists and tied for 11th in points when his season ended March 15. He was named to the All-Hockey East Conference first-team on Thursday.

Hinostroza was selected by the Blackhawks in the sixth round as the 169th overall pick of the 2012 NHL draft. He is the fourth player the Blackhawks have signed from their 2012 draft class. He joins Teuvo Teravainen, Dillon Fournier and Garret Ross.

Hinostroza, a right-handed shot who played center at Notre Dame, picked up his play throughout his sophomore season. He had 14 points through 20 games but recorded 29 points over his last 20. He had points in 24 of 40 games and had 14 multi-point games this past season. He had eight goals and 24 assists in 34 games as a freshman.

Been interested in Hinostroza for a while. He was a great dark horse pick back in his draft and he's done nothing but excel since then. Should be fun to see him in the pros.

Playing on a line with Minnesota Wild prospect Mario Lucia and Boston Bruins draft pick Anders Bjork for much of the second half, Hinostroza's play took off. Hinostroza is undersized, but he's an amazing skater who cuts well and uses his edges for great lateral mobility.

His passing ability is second to only Jack Eichel in college hockey this season. His vision and hockey IQ allows him to find teammates that not many others would find and his soft hands allowed him to fit saucer passes through tight seams.

He's a very good player, obviously. How he adapts to the size at the pro game at his size will be the difference whether he can be a top 6er or have to change his game to become a bottom 6er.

Makes sense he'd sign given the likely promotion of many Rockford players after necessary moves this offseason. Will likely get some significant minutes in the Rock and they will be looking for offensive leaders assuming Danault and McNeil are on the Hawks next year. My hope for him would be a guy somewhat similar to Zuccarello (obviously not quite as productive) who can provide some secondary scoring on the third line and can create some offense. Potentially a Versteeg replacement in 16-17

Terrible signing bowman is terrible. This guy is another midget with no toughness.

Hino is very underrated on these boards. 15th in college scoring this season. Only Eichel, Larkin and Vecchione with more points from an underclassmen.

He isn't even a midget. Same size as Cammeleri, Marchand, Gallagher, Schroeder, Briere and bigger than Tyler Johnson, Gaudreau, Atkinson, Gionta, Zuccarello.

I think he could be Atkinson fairly easily.

Crazy, he lived in the same town and went to the same high school as me (although he's much younger).

Didn't think he had much of a chance to actually make it to the pro club because of his size and well... our high school was pretty awful at nearly every sport.

Really happy for him, hope to see him in an Indian head sweater very soon.

Pirri 2.0. Should have left him at ND

And it was the right year to give him a contract. If you don't sign players when they play to their potential then organizationally players will feel the disconnect. The promotion was earned and deserved. Stan should ink Paliotta next.

Might have selective memory but feels like a long time since the Hawks have signed a draft pick, put him in Rockford and he didn't become an NHLer.

Yeah.

Would have preferred a few of the more recent ones became NHLers for the Blackhawks though.

You see Pirri won the game in a shootout tonight?

Kid's good. Real good.

He's good on offense but a train wreck in his own zone. Hawks don't need that, we have enough guys who can't play defense as it is, (Rozsival, Rundblad)
