This video is fascinating for numerous reasons.

HNIC/CBC started the telecast after the 1st period was played because in 1959 the costs of video lines from Boston were the highest of the 4 US teams back to Toronto.

Foster Hewitt did color that night while his son Bill did play-by-play but Foster expressed his disgust at Bruins fan behavior.

Even more memorable was the long delay when Bruins goalie Harry Lumley had to be taken to a hospital to get stitched up.

Boston TV station WNAC-TV ( The Yankee Network ) was hired by CBC to cover the game with 3 cameras and they did a phenomenal job. ( My Dad can be seen smoking away during the interviews )

The following year the NHL instructed the Bruins to wear black sweaters instead of gold at home for games being televised.

Bet they will stll crying on twitter/X back then, or whatever they called in then. Probably sent morse code or smoke signals, crying about the ref discrepancy during the 4 team SC playoffs.

Leafs are on the wrong side of a lot of records.......................that said, they are due!

The Salty Tears of Marchand are always a site to behold.

Stay tuned.

The Leafs are due!
no one is ever due in sports. took the Cubs I think like 105 years or something to win.
Leafs will have to be very good if they wanna come out on top in this series.
Bruins are notorious for playing a tough game. Bergeron and Krejci may be gone but they are still a big threat.

Id say good luck to Boston but I dont think they really need it with the track record against us lol

Ponder this

Boston's next playoff game was NINE years later in 1968

The Leafs won 4 more Cups after this game was played

Was a 3 team league back then.

Glorifying O6 times is fine and dandy until you realise it was an equivalent of european association football leagues.

did not know they had the ability to keep video from the day! But to be far. This is from the days when dinosaurs roamed the earth and fire and not yet been discovered

While 65 years is a long time, Toronto and Boston have only met in 6 playoff series since then: 1969, 1972, 1974, 2013, 2018, and 2019. 0-6 is still not great, but it sounds a lot better than not having beaten them since 1959.
