</p>Team Finland has earned a date with Russia in the quarterfinals of the 2016 IIHF U18 World Championship after dropping a 3-1 decision to Canada in the final game of the preliminary round.
The Finns fell behind Canada by a 2-0 score on goals by Pascal Laberge (Victoriaville – QMJHL) and David Quenneville (Medicine Hat – WHL), then made things interesting in the third period when a blast from the point by Finland defenseman Robin Salo (Sport Vaasa – FIN) beat Canada goaltender Evan Fitzpatrick (Sherbrooke – QMJHL) to halve Canada’s lead with 5:16 left in the game.… read more
