I wouldn’t want to move Zacha or Bratt, and I don’t think Fitzgerald is going to be interested in trading Wood.

Something around Sharangovich would work; he has shooting skills that are similar to Olofsson, and he, at his age, obviously fits Buffalo’s timeline better if they’re looking to do another rebuild.

That sounds like Wood, and I just don’t think Fitz is going to want to trade him after the year he’s had and the maturity he’s shown.

And we’re not in a position to meet that top-4 d D ask, unless you really like Will Butcher and see him as that.

I said a little less skilled. Wood is having a nice season for himself, but he's a 25-30 point forward. That's a big step down from a guy who will score that many goals alone.

Sharingovich outside of VO's play on the power play is a player with a possible higher ceiling with his all around play....He's close to 3 4 years younger and plays a better all around game.....VO has a great shot outside of that he's soft imo.

I wouldn’t do Zacha. I would consider bratt. I would definitely do wood +.

Zacha offers more to the table but bratt is a very high skilled player I don’t know why he doesn’t put up 60 points a year he reminds me of Clayton Keller

Interestingly, Olofsson and Eichel have played a total of ~900 minutes together at 5v5 in Olofsson's career. In those minutes, Olofsson has a whopping 5 goals. He seems to be a PP specialist.

he played part of one nhl season last year or about 54 g before an injury. He was 9-14-23 at ES last year

This year he was playing away from Eichel other than the PP.

It's hard to judge the Value of VO he is so deadly on the PP and so lackluster everywhere else..

I think his value is fairly easy to gauge. He'll be extremely valuable to a team with a shitty PP that's in the running for the playoffs.

Similar players have gone for a 1st + decent prospect at the deadline many times. Every situation is different but that seems like an inoffensive baseline.

For me, the more pressing question is: how much will buyers be willing to spend given the cap environment/expansion constraints?

Shoulda got one game in

Sharangovich and Gusev for Olofsson and a 3rd?

Sharangovich keeps improving every game. We don’t really know what we have with him yet. He has a really good shot and his play without the puck is pretty good. I would like to hold on to him and see if he can develop into a solid top 6 wing. Our announcer already gave him the nickname sharangoalvich just like you guys have goalofsson

If it helps, it’s just us Sabres fans that call him that. Surprisingly none of us do it sarcastically when he blows a defensive assignment that leads to a goal against

given the money they cost.... it’s all about ROI outside your core players now.
Boesser when his contract is up woukd be cost more than double whatOlofsson does.
No it won’t. Unless you expect Olofsson to only get 4m on his next contract.

ppg player at 8m > 60 point player at 6m

Especially since Boeser is 2 years younger.

Barring a huge overpayment, I don’t see why Sabres move him. Pure scorers are rare, it’s good to have a guy who can score 30+ goals if he’s on a decent line.

Olofsson is elite on the PP - no exaggeration, one of the best shooters off the right side in the league.

He is mostly invisible 5-on-5. Both sides would be gambling on how much of that is Buffalo-related.

He is a low-maintenance pro on a good contract.

He is by no means a driver, but he has several 20-goal seasons in his future. For a good ES team with two good centres needing a shooter he would a terrific fit.

He won’t be moved for a package, or futures, but he could be had in a hockey trade for a gritty 3C, or defence-first veteran 2nd pairing D, preferably one who can stabilize Dahlin.

They should probably move him since Skinner can bring what he brings given the same opportunities and Olofsson has good trade value while they're stuck with Skinner. He's also pretty underwhelming as a two way even strength player. Very Mike Hoffman like

Skinner and Olofsson are almost exact opposites in that Skinner drives results 5 on 5 and VO is lethal from the right dot on the PP.

The issue with these two is that their usage 5 on 5 should really be flipped. VO should be used like a PP specialist and not a 5 on 5 goal scorer. And Skinner should be used like the 5 on 5 goal scorer and penalty drawer that he is.

The doghouse
He has one of the best shots I have ever seen, and is a great PP trigger man. If used right, he should rack up 25-30 goals a year.

he has good effort in the rest of his game, but doesn’t do anything above average other than shoot. His decision making in the offensive zone leaves a lot to be desired. He doesn’t drive any play, and is mostly invisible 5v5 unless he is being fed a one-timer . Not a core piece, but can be a lethal secondary piece

VO would be a perfect fit on the devils but I’d never give up much for someone who is so one dimensionsal.
