Intervyu vratarya Vasiliya Demchenko o perehode iz magnitki v Monreal (Vasily Demchenko on the transition from Magnitogorsk to Montreal)
“When we discussed with their representatives, they (Montreal Canadiens) told me that it’s even possible that I might go down to the ECHL. It’s clear that everything will depend on me but I'm ready for anything. Maybe it’ll be Laval, but maybe not. I don’t pay attention to this at all (suburb, etc). The language (french/english) doesn't scare me at all. I'll learn. That's the least of my worries. I’m looking forward to September 15 (contract) and I'll try to show my best.”
“I earned a lot of money in Russia so I don't care about my new salary (NHL). However, there's no need to throw money right and left (on spending $). I think it's not a problem.”
“To answer the question (unsuccessful season in the KHL why this happened?) I really need to sit down, rummage and watch some videotape. I haven’t done that yet. Sometimes there were some strange things. Everything goes fine, then some stupid shot, rebound, the puck is in the net. You're standing and you don't understand how all this happened you know. Sometimes games turned out, and sometimes not. And you can’t say that I’ve somehow prepared badly for that season. I'm going to Canada to reboot. I’m ready to go to North America. I’m ready to start all over again and trying to reach out my real level. Maybe something will come of it.”
“I’m not opposed about going to a psychologist (Tractor advised their players to get help). I need a person that I could unconditionally trust him. It seems to me that a psychologist should also understand the world of sports, otherwise nothing will work. I don’t exclude the possibility that someday I’ll come to such a specialist, but I din't found yet the right one.”
“I got the information (russian media) that I wouldn’t be drafted so I already knew that this would happen. That wasn’t unexpected. There were conversations about that possibility, so I took it rather calmly.”
“That was a long time (participed in a training camp with the Coyotes)... Now that I've decided to leave, Arizona didn't show any interest and Montreal became interested.”
