Seems like a decent guy but totally clueless behind the bench and stubborn beyond belief. Good luck to him but good riddance.

get rid of Weisbrod while you're at it. He actually does nothing for this franchise. I'll give Lindenning 1 more year before they get kicked to the curb.

If we're to believe Bob McKenzie (I think?) it shouldn't be long before he's re-hired. Remember one of the insiders said teams kept calling asking about Desjardins status.

Great person but he's simply in way over his head. He wasn't able to adjust in the Calgary series and never learned from that.

Kept doing the same thing .. no creativity in his coaching. Putting players in positions to fail

Him putting a fringe ahl player in chaput with the sedins for 15 games was absolutely moronic. As soon as he sucked it up and put goldobin they produced again

I honestly think Willie did the best that could have been done as far as winning the most games he could with the roster he was provided. While many Nuck fans were probably unhappy with his deployment and systems, he was doing everything in his power to follow the mandate from management which was to make the playoffs.

Benning, etc. should be gone this summer as well.

The canucks have made two stupid moves in recent years 1) Hiring Mike Gillis as GM 2) Firing Desjardens today.

The man had nothing to work with and the team's current state is still the result of when Burke was GM.

Desjardens will be scooped up pretty quickly by a franchise that actually has depth to bottom.

The year of 1-2-3-4 Willie was the best one, simply because we had vets like Richardson, Bieska, and players like Matthias playing over their heads.

Jim Benning is actually not a bad GM. The direction he received form Linden and ownership is what's wrong with the Canucks.

Should have traded the Sedin 2 seasons ago.

Firing Desjardins is far from a stupid move. It's a smart move. Hiring Mike Gillis wasn't stupid. What was stupid was how arrogant Mike Gillis acted when talking to the fans, and then he tried to go with the Boston model after 2011 instead of keeping with what our current identity was from 2006-12 that got us one game away from the cup.

lol.

Gillis was totally against changing towards the 'boston model'. he wanted to continue with what he created, high flying, hard forecheck. it was Ownership that demanded the change.. and Gillis said as much on the radio a week before he got fired.

Gillis was the best GM we've ever had, hands down. what a shame our terrible fan base booted him out..

By all means, Arizona can feel more than welcome to pick up WD. He can call Domi a 4th line centre and ride Smith into the concrete.

His commitment to our veterans and his line deployment was mind boggling. Bo Horvat - 4th Liner. He's a great guy but he needed to go.
