TODAY’S GAME
CANUCKS at SABRES

  • This is the second of two meetings between the Sabres and Canucks this season.
  • Last meeting: Vancouver defeated Buffalo 6-5 (OT) in Vancouver on Dec. 7, 2019
  • The Sabres are 4-5-1 in their last 10 games vs. the Canucks; 6-4-0 at home.
  • This is the 124th game all-time between Buffalo and Vancouver; Buffalo has a 50-53-20 series record.
  • The Sabres are 32-21-8 at home against the Canucks all-time.

Sabres’ Jimmy Vesey looking to seize opportunity beside Jack Eichel

In Thursday’s 5-1 road loss to the St. Louis Blues, Sabres coach Ralph Krueger moved rookie Rasmus Asplund off the No. 1 trio and inserted Vesey in Olofsson’s usual spot at left wing.Krueger said “there’s a good chance” Vesey will play there again this afternoon against the Vancouver Canucks at KeyBank Center.

“An opportunity to step up,” Vesey said of his new assignment. “We’ve been looking for scoring and it can’t keep coming from the same guys. I think as a group collectively we’ve got to start pitching in up and down. I think when we do get secondary scoring, I think it just makes us that much more difficult to play against, because we know Jack and Sam and our power play are going to get looks.

As a swede it will be exciting to watch Elias this game at least!
Not much hope for the Sabres...

Can anyone design a helmet horse blinder for Vesey where he will skate the puck toward the opposing goal instead of his own?
