League Announcement: USHL Announces 2020-21 Schedule

• 54 games for each team in a regionally-based schedule
• 24-week regular season scheduled to begin Thursday, November 5, 2020 and concluding on Saturday, April 24, 2021
• Eastern Conference has 6 Teams: Chicago Steel, Dubuque Fighting Saints, Green Bay Gamblers, Muskegon Lumberjacks, Team USA and Youngstown Phantoms
• Western Conference has 8 Teams: Des Moines Buccaneers, Fargo Force, Lincoln Stars, Omaha Lancers, Sioux City Musketeers, Sioux Fall Stampede, Tri-City Storm and Waterloo Black Hawks
• Two teams have suspended operations for 2020-21: Cedar Rapids RoughRiders and Madison Capitols

USHL Sets Rosters for 2020-21 Season

ROSTERS SET FOR BEGINNING OF 2020-21 SEASON THIS WEEK

CHICAGO, Ill. - The United States Hockey League (USHL) and its Member Clubs announced Tuesday the rosters for the 2020-21 season for all 14 active Clubs ahead of the first game of the season Thursday.

For @alko's benefit, since he finds it a chore to click on links ... I believe I counted a dozen players with European hometowns listed, and several other Euro-sounding names across all rosters. So there you go.

Youngstown vs. Chicago opening weekend games (Nov. 6th & 8th) in Geneva have been rescheduled to December 10, 2020 & April 11, 2021 respectively. The League announcement says: "Per league safety protocols, minimum standards were not met to play the weekend's games ... ."

That was the same reasoning for Green Bay's 10/31 cancellation, when the Gamblers tweeted that one of their players tested positive.

Team previews for all 14 active clubs are finally linked in a post above. Now if the League can actually get them all playing.

The Lumberjacks & Fighting Saints managed to play the first game of the USHL 2020-21 season on Friday night in Dubuque. Attendance = 0. ETA: Game photos show fans in "pods" inside Dubuque's Mystique Community Ice Center. So either the HockeyTech game report record was in error, or a decision has been made to omit attendance figures.

Games in Des Moines & in Waterloo were postponed Friday, with Waterloo's Saturday game hosting Omaha also postponed. Dubuque, Green Bay & Sioux City are still scheduled to host Saturday night games at this writing. Day-to-day play.

A step forward for the 2020-21 season: Three out of four games scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 7 were played to completion. Something to build on - with continuing patience & caution.

The US NTDP home games this coming weekend against Chicago (11/13 & 11/14) and Muskegon (11/15) have been declared "no contest" and will attempt to be rescheduled.

Last weekend's game against Bowling Green University was also canceled.

But the good news is: The USHL teams managed to complete a game on Thursday, three on Friday, and five on Saturday (with one postponement previously announced).

Early days yet, but here are the USHL standings through the first two weekends ... Game Center

Green Bay & Fargo lead their respective divisions, each with zero losses so far. Team USA & Des Moines have yet to play any regular season games.

Whichever vendor is handling USHL Game Center stats oughta be renegotiating their contract to cover unanticipated labor costs ...
