On the way to Richmond, IN to see the eclipse. Stopped at Bakers Square in Schererville, IN for lunch. The 2 hour drive to get here took 3 hours. Chicago was worse than usual. Can't want to see the Indy traffic!

I went to southern Illinois for 2017, so this is my second total eclipse. It will be the first for my wife. I saw a 105 year old man from Texas on TV that said it will be his 13th!
I probably won't go to 2044 in the Dakotas.

Milwaukee is getting an eclipse in 2099.
I probably won't make that one.

Ohio?!?!
Looks like it might be a tad cloudy today, but oh well.

I hope nothing too stupid happens anywhere. Be safe everyone.

My daughter & her BF are at Ground Zero (give or take) in Southeast MO. I told her to close her eyes. It's what fathers do.

"Lift up your eyes to the heavens, and look at the earth beneath; for the heavens vanish like smoke, the earth will wear out like a garment, and they who dwell in it will die in like manner; but my salvation will be forever, and my righteousness will never be dismayed." -- Isaiah 51:6 (without much time left in the 4th quarter 🏀)

This event made me think of the 1941 Asmiov short story and the 1990 book from Asimov and Bob Silverberg called NIghtfall about a planet that has an eclipse that make many go mad as they have never had the complete darkness as their solar system has 6 suns and at least 1 of the suns is in the sky at any given time. The eclipse is so rare that it happens once every 2049 years so nobody has ever seen one.

Interesting read for sure on this day the eclipse.

Well, it certainly met the hype, heh. I'm glad it turned out to be a nice day.

Edit: Also, I now appreciate how bright the sun really is, haha.

Posted this in another thread, but what I was able to capture from my spot in Ohio. Thankfully was able to see totality. And that’s Venus in the bottom right corner.
