Hartnell-Dubois/Karlsson-Foligno
Calvert-Karlsson/Campbell-Anderson

Murray-Jones
Johnson-Savard
Werenski-Prout/Goloubef

Bobrovsky
McElhinney/Korpisalo

Possible callups: C Sedlak, D Harrington, D Kukan

How it all pieces together will come down to camp. If management sees Jenner as a center, we look pretty good down the middle (and Foligno/Hartnell probably jump up to the Dubinsky line.) If Dubois makes the team, we're mostly in agreement playing a year with Hartnell and Foligno would be good for his development. I rather see him back in juniors for another year, though.

If neither of those things happen, then 2/3 of Campbell, Sedlak, and Karlsson are our 3/4 centers. We could use an improvement there.

There are many various opinions on our boards in regards to 2016/17 line-up, a lot of variabilities in bottom 6, and the impact of Provorov / Konecny, if they make the team. Here is strictly only my opinion and what I think that we could maybe have for the 1st game. This is with Provorov making the team and Konecny not, and no other moves besides RFA signings.

The Sharks have 2 forward prospects that may well make the team this year. One is Goldobin, who proved everything he needed to in the AHL last year. I consider him basically a lock to make the team. He had his 9 game cup of coffee last season, and is poised to do big things this year.

The other forward prospect that might make the team is Timo Meier. He was the #9 pick in last year's draft, and had a really good season in juniors. He definitely also looks physically ready for the NHL right now. For proof of that, here's a pic of him holding the cup for winning the championship in the Q:

That fellow is ripped AF. Anyway, there's a lot of speculation he'll make the team as well. If he does, the team will probably look something like this:

Meier - Thornton - Pavelski
Boedker - Couture - Donskoi
Marleau - Hertl - Goldobin
Karlsson - Tierney - Ward
Nieto, Wingels, Sorensen

Vlasic - Braun
Martin - Burns
Dillon - Schlemko
DeMelo, Heed

Jones
<Backup TBD, though it might be our prospect Dell, who was good at the AHL level, at least. >

Note that it is certainly possible that they won't want to break up our current 1st line with Hertl and the Joes. In that case, the 3rd line would likely be: Meier - Marleau - Goldobin

If only Goldobin makes it, our forward group would look something like this, I think:

Hertl - Thornton - Pavelski
Boedker - Couture - Donskoi
Goldobin - Marleau - Ward
Karlsson - Tierney - Wingels/Nieto

Honestly, I'd be happy with either one. That's a damn good lineup, IMNSHO.

Biggest need is to trim excess players on the roster. Somehow get rid of Bernier, Michalek and Greening, deal Bozak and shift Nylander to C, and acquire a top pairing RHD for Rielly.

Assuming right now we don't get another top 6 RW between now and training camp, here goes:

Ladd-Tavares-Parenteau
Lee-Nelson-Bailey
Grabovski-Strome-Kulemin
Chimera-Cizikas-Clutterbuck
Prince, Quine

Leddy-Hamonic
De Haan-Boychuk
Hickey/Pelech-Pulock

Greiss/Halak
Berube

While right now this is the roster, I don't foresee this to be the official roster come puck drop in October. I think Matt Barzal has a real legitimate spot to play RW, most likely in Bailey's spot if he is traded in a package for a Top 6 RW along with some prospects/players/picks etc. We're thin on the right side so if Garth lands one more Top 6 RW before the season, our right side would look possibly like this:

Top 6 RW
Barzal
Parenteau
Clutterbuck

Just hope this is what Garth sees and acts on it accordingly.

No chance at all that Babcock puts Nylander - Matthews - Marner together for a significant time to start the season. Maybe on the PP, but all three will have at least one vet on their line. It may even be likely they have two.

I know we want to see that line, but won't happen just yet.

Biggest need at the moment is a RHD that we can expose for the expansion draft. Would not be surprised to see a Schenn or Schultz signing any day now. Line up is fairly set, the only toss up is Teravainen and Lindholm. Those two are more or less interchangeable. Long term need is a #1 Center and a goalie. Depending on the development of both Lindholm and Nedeljkovic, we may have both of those in house.

Callups: Petan, Lowry, Copp (any of these could potentially start in Burmi's spot)

Need: Trade some of our ridiculous forward and prospect depth and/or Myers for a young stud LHD that is preferably expansion draft exempt.

Biggest needs: Time machine, and owner to spend to the cap. Otherwise, I think the above lineup speaks for itself... we need a crap load. Bottom end defensive salary needs to be moved out, we need another top six forward or two, and a couple more depth forwards.

McCann in the AHL ? Why ?!?

Unless he bulks up over this summer, I'd prefer to have him in the AHL to atleast start the season. As one who watches many Canuck games, I was stoked to hear we got him (and ultimately Mascherin).

2nd line C in the future but I want to see him crush some AHL competition after getting stronger. Top 6 is already set and Crouse fits in better on the 3rd line IMO. However I wouldn't be opposed in any way if Crouse played another year in Kingston.

No Bigras? Every year Roy has started the season with 8D, so I think he's a lock for the roster, especially with how he ended the season. Barring injuries I think he starts on the bottom pair and Wiercioch starts in the press box. With the Wiercioch and Tyutin signings we'll probably have to expose Siemens to waivers, but at this point I doubt he gets claimed.

Otherwise I mostly agree with this.

With the great pickup of Boedker, good addition of Schlemko, likely addition of Goldobin, and possible addition of Meier, I can't help but see this Sharks team in the WCF next year at least again. Adding the elite speed of Boedker and quickness of Goldobin may help a bit against a Pittsburgh-esque team again?

I'm optimistic about that but what do you think?

We might need to trade some of our forwards for defense pretty soon. Someone on our boards had a lineup which had seven forward lines, all of which included players who could possibly make it to the NHL this year. Depth doesn't hurt, but that's way too much. Just flipping two of those guys for defensive help would be fantastic. The other need is time, for obvious reasons (plus getting rid of Stuart can't possibly happen soon enough).
