Upcoming Contract Situations

Credit to @RoyIsALegend, but I'm also curious on how people think our upcoming contract situations will end up. Thought maybe this could be a discussion that's ongoing for the season so may as well make a thread.


1. Mikko Rantanen - RFA
Does he get the 8 year deal at a huge number? Any clauses(NTC/NMC)?

2. JT Compher - RFA
Bridge? 1 year deal then arb. eligible as an RFA?

3. Vlad Kamenev - RFA
1 or 2 year deal?

4. AJ Greer - RFA
Will want a one-way contract, does he just get a 1 year 1 way "show me" deal?

5. Sven Andrighetto - RFA (arbitration eligible)
Do the Avs even qualify him? Sign one year? Go to arbitration?

6. Alex Kerfoot - RFA (arbitration eligible)
Interesting one. A ~40 point player usually gets paid, but has only played 2 years. 2 or 3 year contract? Traded? Could bank in arbitration.

7. Nikita Zadorov - RFA (arbitration eligible)
Another bridge deal or time to make a call on Zads? Could likely go to arbitration, but his offensive numbers will hurt him.

8. Semyon Varlamov - UFA
Do we keep him? Is he traded by the deadline(unlikely)? Where does he sign and for how much $$?

9. Pavel Francouz - UFA
Can't peg what his dollar amount will be, since we don't know if he will get NHL playing time. UFA and will want an NHL job. Do we keep him? For how long and how much money?

10. Colin Wilson - UFA
Probably gone, but what do you think he will get if he comes close to 20 goals? Somebody will overpay.

11. Patrik Nemeth - UFA
Probably gone, especially with the influx of young D and Barberio being signed through next year. Where does he go or do we even really care?

- Compher: 2x2.5 bridge deal and unless he puts up 40+ points I don’t see him cracking 3.5mil on it.

Guessing we pick up someone for the 2nd line so Ghetto goes, Makar and maybe Timmins joining the team so Nemeth gone. Gonna guess Grubs doesn't work out and he gets moved at some point to a team like Carolina(who was in on him) and run with Varly/Frank​

That is my take on the issue, which I'm sure will be completely wrong. As you can see I would rather lock them up longer term and save a little cap space plus with the new CBA coming these might wind up being steals later on. Jmo, go ahead and RIP me a new one.
