United Center name renewed for 20 years

Don't worry, you guys. We don't have another "Sears" Tower situation on our hands in Chicago.

The United Center will retain that name for the next two decades, as the Blackhawks, Bulls and the UC have joined up with United Airlines for 20 more years, as announced Wednesday.

No word on what they're paying now.

Good to hear. Last thing I'd want would be for it to change from one corporate name to another corporate name, thus forcing me to act high and mighty by still referring to it by the old corporate name towards people that use the new corporate name, a la the Sears Tower.

You jest, but the United Center has a much better ring to it than Jobing.com Arena.

If you're going to go all out and focus on the badly named places, might as well have whipped out the KFC Yum! Center, the Mazda Zoom-Zoom Stadium, or the 1-800-ASK-GARY Amphitheater.

But I was being serious, very happy that the name's not changing, just poking some fun over it.

Seems to me like US Cellular Field would be a more appropriate reference.
