Sacha Boisvert, F, Muskegon Lumberjacks

Boisvert is a potential first-round pick who quietly had a strong rookie season with an underperforming Muskegon club during the 2022-2023 campaign.

The 6-foot-2, 176-pound center features terrific size and excellent puck skills.

Boisvert’s skating is decent, but he could look to improve in that area this year.

The University of North Dakota commit possesses a strong shot and quick hands, attributes that helped him achieve 45 points (17 goals, 28 assists) in 57 games last year.

Mac Swanson, F, Fargo Force

Cole Knuble told me last year that Mac Swanson was “the best passer he’s ever played with.”

At 5-foot-7, 165 pounds, Swanson's size will be a limiting factor on how far he might fall in the draft. Historically, smaller players have slid, but he offers so much in terms of his skillset.

The North Dakota commit has a knack for knowing where everyone is on the ice. Time and again, he takes the puck below the net, waits for a trailing teammate and connects with a seam pass in the slot for scoring opportunities.

He will be without his two linemates, Knuble and Bret Link, and players of Swanson’s size need to produce

Caleb Heil, G, Sioux Falls Stampede

Heil generated a fair amount of buzz after his performance for Team USA at the Hlinka-Gretzky Cup.

The North Dakota commit backstopped the Americans to a bronze medal and is expected to be a big piece of the Herd’s goaltending room for the upcoming campaign.

Heil got his feet wet in a nine-game sample size last year, posting a 2.92 goals-against average and a .908 save percentage.

The 17-year-old will look to become the second straight rookie netminder (Hrabal) to be taken in his draft-eligible year.

EJ Emery, D, U.S. National Under-18 Team

Like Skahan, EJ Emery is a big defenseman. He’s listed at 6-foot-3 and 185 pounds, and he can make a lot of plays with his feet.

The North Dakota commit is a strong skater and already a plus-defender.

Now entering his second year with the national program, he will look to add more offense to his game, one that produced 12 points (two goals, 10 assists) with the U-17 squad last season

I get the whole green theme thing, but is there something psychologically and/or physiologically beneficial for the athletes to hangout/workout/rehab in such odd lighting? :dunno:

Per usual UND and Minnesota split their series. Minny Friday 4-0 and UND Saturday 2-1. Tale of 2 games. Minny the much better team Friday and vice versa Saturday

NoDak is looking like NoDak again this year. Add in the resurgence of Maine, Wisconsin, Providence and BC and it makes for a more competitive field this year. I think it was obvious by the midway point last year one of Quinnipiac or Minny was going to win the title.

Considering UND had no D coming back they have played really well defensively

This year, UND got its 11th victory on Nov. 25. Last season, the 11th win came on Jan. 27.
The last time UND had 11 wins by Nov. 25? The Hrkac Circus team of 1986-87.
UND is blocking 14.14 shots per game — most of any National Collegiate Hockey Conference team. Colorado College is second at 12.17.

Fighting Hawks players rank first, second and third in the league in blocks — Bennett Zmolek (31), Abram Wiebe (24) and Garrett Pyke (22).

UND has become the best faceoff team in the NCHC, winning 55.1 percent of draws.

Three UND centers rank in the top 10 individually in the NCHC — Berg is first at 63 percent, Louis Jamernik V is seventh at 55 percent and Owen McLaughlin is 10th at 54.2 percent.
L
Persson leads the NCHC in goals-against average (1.85) and save percentage (.924). He leads the nation in wins (11) and shutouts (three).

No quit in this team. Dead in the water down 4-1 to Denver after 1. Get a couple back then give one up and down 5-3 after 2. They then go and score 4 in the third to win it 7-5. What a fun game to witness

Tip my hat to CC tonight as they take down UND at the Ralph 3-2 in overtime. Sioux tried to be to fancy after taking a 2-0 lead. CV goalie played really well. Try and salvage a split tomorrow night

Pre-holiday slip in focus. Hawks didn't do themselves any Pairwise favors. Time for some bag skate sessions, dress them up as Santas with 50 pounds each of toys for a local orphanage.

Boy did the Sioux need that sweep over Alaska this weekend. First period Friday night was as ugly as it gets then they decided enough is enough and played the way they are capable of. Back to conference play this coming weekend against Omaha at the Ralph
