Well, geez. Clearly, you are right, we are wrong. Time to wrap this up, since you made thr ultimate argument
I'm not saying I'm 100% right, that's ridiculous. Just so many people CLEARLY aren't reading the thread before voting/posting.
Case in point - Markov as 3 votes. Markov wouldn't go in the top-200 in real life.
I really don't think so. Think about it. Let's say Dale Tallon offers Barkov to Bergevin and ask for either Gilbert or Scherbak in return. Do you really think Bergevin is gonna let Scherbak go and keep Gilbert over him? In other words, if another GM offers you a first round pick for Gilbert, you take the deal.
I don't think people are actually reading the thread.
In terms of value in the league, those are no-where close. In terms of "Fantasy Drafts," which this thread essentially is - Scherbak's got high value, but not super high.
Unless you're a "can't miss" prospect, you're not going extremely high in Fantasy draft because teams have to build a team from scratch.
4th liners and plugs (ala Prust, Wiese, etc) will go really low - because you fill those spots through free agency. But generally, you'd see teams fill out their Top-2 (maybe 3) lines, Top-4 defense (maybe all 6) and a starting goalie before worrying about "very good" prospects.
If you're prospects bust and you selected them high... you're going to be bad for a long, long, long time.
Also, guys of similar impact with high contracts are going to go lower than guys with lower contracts (ala Pacioretty above Subban).
Your post is saying what the thread is not asking. That this is value to the team. That's not what the OP is asking.
