So we're supposed to listen to this guy staring at a piece of paper because he has no clue who UPL is?

There's no set timetable when a goalie is ready. Some notable goalies didn't get their first shot until they were 24/25. They were generally late picks though.

Here's some notable goalies that played in the NHL at a young age.

Vasilevskiy just turned 20 in his first taste of the NHL
Fleury was 18 at the start of the season
Price just turned 20
Quick 21
Murray 21 won the cup that year as well as the starting goalie in the playoffs
Hart just turned 20
Rinne 20
Holty just turned 21

I say give UPL some games this year. Not like it hurt those previously mentioned goalies.

Rinne played 3 NHL games before his 26yo season.

Holtby played 21 NHL games before his 23yo season.

MAF was rushed to the NHL by a really bad Penguins team and played 21 games in his pre-lockout 19yo season.

There isn't any real value to UPL's development if he plays a few NHL games this year. And given the injury and the fact that he's in the ECHL right now, I doubt he's up in Buffalo this year barring a ton of injuries.

He's going to need to start investing in a bigger award shelf

I saw him play tonight in Indianapolis. Lost 2-1. Should have had the 2nd goal-it snuck between him and the post and he shouldn't have allowed any space for that.

Overall, this kid looks very solid. He's quick with good balance and is pretty decent with the puck outside of the crease. He's certainly way too good for the ECHL-but we'll be glad to keep him for as long as Buffalo wants us to!

send Hutton to Cincinnati (if he clears waivers), bring JJ to Buffalo and 6K to Rochester.

Then, when EITHER of JJ or 6K establish themselves, trade the other when his stock his highest

Or let the two kids develop at their own pace. Don’t base when they move up on anything other than what’s best for them development wise.

Too fast. Let them develop.
Serious truth here. I am amazed how some people on these boards think its like leveling up in video games and you just plug in the shiny new object. Ullmark is 26 and played his first NHL season last year at 25. That is a very normal and typical goalie development path. Jonas Johansson is on the same path playing a full season in the AHL at 24, doing very well and if all goes well gets #1 goalie time in Rochester or backup duty in Buffalo next year at 25. Luukkonen is only 20 years old playing his second year of post draft hockey with a major surgery in the middle. He needs to stay in Cincy this entire year and then likely 2 more years in Rochester. Then we can see where we are. We have a healthy slow perk layered goalie plan right now. Just let it brew.

Oh, look there.....its a 6'6 210lb Swedish goaltender....he's so shiny.....he will save our franchise and therefore our purpose for living......we just drafted him....but put Portillo in net for every game...for the rest of the season...….. and we will win the Stanley Cup!!!!!!!!!

I'm not sure how serious your suggestion is, but teams cannot unilaterally send non-ELC players to the ECHL.
