Injury or not, Shayilan looked damn good. Loved that knee going in when he had him against the cage.

Minner was definitely hurt before his fight and someone either in his camp or close to it got word... cause this is just sketchyyyyy

Magny's so well-rounded. Took some shots in the second but picks up a nice finish. D-Rod seems to have some conditioning issues as well.

You know that power is legit when there's a finish in this division.

Agree with the commentary, Rodriguez was out after that first shot.

Lemos and Andrade are both something different in terms of their finishing ability at lower weight mma. I take shots at some of the WMMA the UFC delivers but those divisions brought it tonight.

Hell baby
Shoutout to Neil Magny

The cardio king with the most WW wins in UFC history. Impressive. Handled DRod. No better gate-keeper in history

I honestly think he’d give Colby some issues. The things Colby likes to weaponize are the same things Magny is good at

Yeah, Lemos (and Andrade) are physically dominant for the division. But more often than not, skills win fights, so I'd pick Weili, Rose, and probably Carla over her. She's also already 35.

Rodriguez's lack of power has always been a question when it comes to the top of the division. She's a good striker, but she's not THAT good and this fight is an example of the lack of physical tools holding her back from the truly elite. She's also already 35.

Gotta respect Magny, man. Just keeps doing the damn thing.

D-Rod's an alright fighter, but I don't think he really has that ace in the hole. Nothing to set him apart.

Edit: Magny and D-Rod? Both also 35 years old.

It's being investigated now. Definitely sounds shady.

James Krause is sooooo sketchy. I didn't even realize he was Minner's coach. The MMA betting podcast and the fact that he charges to join his gambling discord channel really makes this so obvious that it was leaked.

Bronster also added this tweet:

LOL. Not saying Minner is definitely involved in the betting aspect but I get it from a fighter's standpoint and honestly I blame the system. He doesn't fight he doesn't get paid. But clearly his team or someone close to him leaked this out and big money was wagered.

Crazy this is happening right after Dillashaw v. Aljo. Also crazy this is happening less than a month after the UFC announced out of nowhere they were banning fighters and their teams from placing bets on any UFC fights. Makes me seriously wonder if something happened that prompted that decision.

The ESPN article says the betting watchdog group alerted sportsbooks and state regulatory authority around three hours before the fight and that some sportsbooks pulled that fight immediately. Some oddsmakers and bettors that ESPN talked to think Minner straight up threw the fight while others think info was leaked from his camp.

Even assuming this was from leaked information it still looks really bad for Minner IMO. For people to start throwing large sums of money on Minner to lose in the first round means the information that was leaked was in the nature of "this guy is completely toast, his injury is so bad that as soon as he gets touched or touches his opponent he's going down." So basically, the leak would have been "Minner shouldn't even be fighting tonight" which again calls into question what the safeguards and/or disclosures are in these kinds of situations.

Also, Helwani spoke to Dillashaw at length about the injury issue. The part I thought was interesting was Helwani mentioned Dana's comment that Dillashaw should have told the UFC about his shoulder problems. Dillashaw responded he would never tell the UFC about injuries like that out of fear the UFC would call off the fight.

Just watched the ending of that fight. If Minner was in on it, well, Mark Smith made him earn it.

Much like the TJ situation, I think fighters want/need to get paid and are delusional enough that they think they will be able to land a shot and pull out the win. To me, this seems like something from his camp and knowing how involved Krause is with betting.....pretty suspicious. IF, big if, Krause is involved....that's worthy of a lifetime ban IMO. Betting on your fighters is one thing. Betting against your fighters is another. Especially coming so shortly after the new rule about fighters and coaches betting, too.

A MMA coach has a gambling discord?

That seems sus in itself

I wanted to give this a bit of room to breathe, but I really think this betting thing with Minner isn't going to go away lightly.

I'll just say straight up - I think Minner & his camp were 100% in on it. There's just too much here in terms of "coincidences" involving the lead-up and then what actually happened in the cage. This isn't a 14-0 guy who has everything to lose, this is a journeyman fighter who probably is gone from the UFC in his next fight or two anyway and is probably closer to the end of his career than the beginning.

MMA fighters have many great qualities, but many of them have a couple of bad ones: they aren't that smart and they lack attention to detail. These guys are 100% going to get caught if it's actually pursued. And given how much money sportsbooks can lose in the future on this stuff - I think it will get pursued. They need to set a precedence - I think Minner and a bunch of people associated to him are going down and it's going to be ugly - banned from fighting/betting/whatever is involved in it.

It wouldn't even surprise me if they just saw the Dillashaw fight and were like "hey we can make a bunch of money doing that" and just went ahead with it.

And just to add - I'm far from a conspiracy theory guy. Probably the opposite actually, or at least in the middle. But this one just doesn't add up to me.

I still go back to what I said/thought at the time about Dillashaw and I wonder on that one. Aljo was like +1000 and Dillashaw looked like he wanted to tap a couple of times and instead just lied there and took the beating. That one is extremely suspicious as well and TJ's team better hope nobody digs in too deep there..

One more thing: It will be very interesting how the UFC broadcast looks this weekend. I'm sure the sponsor stuff will still be there, but maybe they don't have Anik shoving gambling stuff down our throats every 30 seconds & you might not see so many betting tweets.

It's also funny considering the timing that last week they announced their new policy that fighters and their team can't bet on fights.
