Finland's Team:

Forwards: 15

Emil Hemming (2024)
Aatos Koivu (2024) - Saku Koivu's son
Is Koivu an option for the Habs? He plays C and is 6’ (Saku was 5’10).

I’ve seen a site say he could go late 2nd or in the 3rd Round but don’t know what the consensus is.

3rd round most likely. We have 2 early picks there, and he's a center, so it's definitely possible. He's super skinny. He definitely needs more strength and weight.

There will be better options if Hughes holds on to that pick. And if the Avalanche 'upset' the Jets, that pick will be higher than projected when the trade was made.

Only if the Avalanche make it to the conference finals, if they lose in the second round they would still pick ahead of Winnipeg (Montreal).

Canada plays Norway at 11 am, and there might actually be a link for that game. We'll see....

Trevor Connelly is playing for the US team. He was added.

It isn't that strong of an edition for the U.S this year, so Connelly will definitely be a big help for them.

Team USA:

Forwards - 14
Trevor Connelly (2024)
James Hagens (2025)
Cole Eiserman (2024)
Brodie Ziemer (2024)
Charlie Pardue (2024)
Teddy Stiga (2024)
Austin Baker (2025)
Kamil Bednarik (2024)
Lucas Van Vliet (2024)
Brendan McMorrow (2024)
Christian HUmphreys (2024)
Max Plante (2024)
L.J. Mooney (2024)
Shane Vansaghi (2024)

Defense - 8

Cole Hutson (2024)
John Whipple (2024)
E.J. Emery (2024)
Sam Laurila (2024)
Logan Hensler (2025)
Noah Lapointe (2024)
Will Skahan (2024)
Dakoda Rheaume-Mullen (2024)

Goal - 2

Jack Parsons (2024)
Nick Kempf (2024)

There's no real underagers on this team. The 2025 draft eligibles are late 2006s, so are in their final year of eligibility anyway.

I mean McKenna is the next Bedard, not sure it's a bad thing he is there.
I get it but at the sametime it is one of the last chance for the 2024 draft class to prove their value on the largest scene which is a missed opportunity when half the team are 2025 or 2026 draft class.

It's nothing against McKenna or any of the players.

The rest of the 2024s you are talking about are otherwise engaged. Best to bring the best team we can regardless of draft statuses.

We don't really have 2024s that are competing with Martone and McKenna anyway.

That's the thing I am not even sure if it's the best u18 team. They are missing some very noticeable players from 2024 draft.

Iginla and Helenius are the two I'm keying in on.. I want to see if they're actually options with our pick or if it would be too rich.

Not getting Lindstrom and Catton sucks though. Would be nice to see all 4 of those secondary options (Celebrini, Demidov being the primary options) on the same stage.

So there is video of Canada - Norway game without announcers just arena sound.

I missed the beginning and somehow Norway was leading 1-0. Ryder Ritchie just tied it on PP. Luchanko and Schaefer with assists.

That's Schaefer's 4th assist in pre-tournament games.

Norway goalie has been really solid so far. He's tracking the puck well, and maintaining composure. At this level that can change at any time.
