I wouldn't say they are better than last year but Hagens is better than anyone last year.

They need to update their skating standards. Canada and USA have gone all out on emphasizing skating above everything, Finland still has skating standards from 10 years ago. Not sure if kids just aren't spending the same amount of time on ice or what, but that's the biggest issue I've seen the last few junior cycles.

you got it
Can hockey Canada and USA hockey bring a group skating and goal-scoring coaches
to Vierumäki during the next pohjola camp. We don't have resources to do that by ourselves.

Finland was shockingly bad today. Rimpinen might’ve done his draft chances a lot of damage today. Finland’s defense too was pathetic. Can’t believe they thought Muhonen wasn’t good enough for this team.
I don't see Rimpinen NHL goalie without huge and dramatic improvements on his positioning etc.
Some NHL team might draft him rounds 5-7 but i wouldn't be surprised if he won't get drafted.
But that's for sure Rimpinen should've be done in this tournament
after his USA game performance.

Skipping first 2 matches but very excited for Czechs/Slovaks (and nervous) and Finns/Swedes (very much at easy for that one).

Czech players better be too after that Kazachstan debacle.
They should send Switzerland a gift basket after they managed to keep them in the undeserved 2nd place, although who the hell knows at this point. The Czech team is capable of choking the QF as well, against Finland you would at least know for sure there won't be any underestimation...
Was it undeserved though? The Czechs did beat Sweden. Very pleased with second place, we have a chance against Slovakia but would not have had any chance against Finland with this team. Against Slovakia it's a 50/50 game.

Swiss have played a great game but ultimately the talent of the US team has been too much. Hagens is taking this tournament apart.

Tarnation
Right after Reid said this would be low scoring, I figured nah, these kids are going to score early and often. And here we are at 1-0 under 2 minutes in.

as of now 5-5...shame on IIHF not to broadcast KAZ-NOR game if they aim to promote the sport...especially in 21st century when everyone has a camera on their mobile
Our forward Elias Vatne did play "the game of his life" in this one.
His effort in this game was outstanding.

I think Sweden wins against Finland. Finland's defense is a disaster.

The first penalty on Mrtka was a brutal giveaway and a stupid hook.. totally justifiable. This one? I'm not sure he did anything wrong here?
