Check out this link for US goalie stats so far. Miller was being cast aside early on, and NOBODY was giving Bishop serious consideration. Unless Quick or Schneider get healthy and turn it around, those two are the front runners. Obviously there's almost two months of hockey to be played, and other intangibles factors to consider, but who do you think will emerge as the US starter?

Anderson
Bishop
Howard
Miller
Schneider
Thomas
Quick

First, the fact that Miller is having a very strong season on such a horrible team should make him a strong consideration alone.

Then factor in what he did 4 years ago (proven history), and it's almost a no-brainer.

Miller, Quick and Bishop. If Quick s not up to speed due to his injury plud in Tim Thomas.

Miller should be the frontrunner for starter. Probably Quick and Bishop as the other two assuming Quick is healthy.

Keep Tim Thomas far away from Team USA. He doesn't deserve to be on the team based on play and he's a turd.

I don't care who the #2 or #3 is as long as Miller is starting. Quick is severely overrated and Schneider doesn't have the experience or pedigree over Miller. But hey, this is team USA, the same jokers who picked Esche, Grahame and DiPietro over a healed Miller in 06

Even when Quick was healthy this year, I still think Miller has generally outplayed him.

Miller starts, Quick is the main backup and Bishop as the 3rd.

If Quick isn't ready, then flip a coin between Howard and Schneider.

I think it all comes down to how USA Hockey weights Miller playing on a horrible team. If the weighting is generous, he's the guy. If weighting is minor, he'll be lucky to be the 3rd guy.

Depends on how much the US values past performance versus current play. If they want to go on past performance and experience, Miller's the obvious choice. If they weigh current play more, go with Bishop.

Miller is the healthiest guy with the most experience on that kind of stage and he's playing well.

Quick could have made the decision tougher had he been better this year and not injured right now.

I think Schneider, Miller and Quick are a clear cut above the rest. Can't go wrong with any of the three.

Based on play this year, and I read somewhere that was a huge factor in the decision, it's either Miller or Bishop.

I believe that Miller will be given the starter position at first, as things stand now. If he plays well in the group stage, he will get to keep it.

Miller should be one of the three.

Whether he starts depends on his play in January. I've always believed that in a short tournament, gotta ride the hot hand. Whoever is playing the best right before the tournament, that's the guy who should play. It's not about who's better in general, it's about who's getting hot at the right time.

I dont see there being a clear starter in this.

I see each goalie starting one of the 3 round robin games, from there 2 of 3 will start the playoffs.

Miller should be on the team given his play and he was the hero from 2010.

the other 2 depend on health and how they play in December.

Bishop has played well but he is also one of the youngest--if he makes the team he starts against the weakest opponent and thats it.

The last two slots should be between Quick, Schneider, and Bishop.
