I don't know about that. The dude was all attitude as a rookie in Detroit.
I always thought Maltby was a first-class agitator. But Avery, as a rookie, made Maltby look like Jean Belliveau.

ha. Yeah I agree with that. But he wasn't doing crap like disrupting the locker room enough to cause fights, and making sloppy seconds comments about other players wives.

If he had kept it to even a Brad Marchand level of antics he would've had a better and longer career. But the off ice antics and his attitude weren't worth it, even though he was a good player.

He was kind of his own worst enemy. A guy that can put up 15 goals/40ish points as well as stir the pot has significant value, but he seemed determined to shrink the pool of potential employers until only NYR would touch him.
