TRADES BEFORE DECEMBER 1
  • JT Miller, B Halverson for Cam Fowler
  • Cam Fowler, Dylan McIllraith + 2018 2nd for J Trouba, a trash contract to stash away and a 2017 6th
  • J Fast + Marek Hrivik for Ville Pokka (Chicago)
Look at picking up some players for Hartford depth (we only have 45 SPCs) as well

ROSTER
Kreider - Zib - Buch
Vesey - Step - Zucc
Nash - Hayes - Pirri
Grabner - Lindberg - Jooris/Nieves

Jensen as the first callup

McD - Trouba
Skjei - Klein
Staal - Girardi/Clendening
Holden

Gilmour or Graves first callup

  • Deal Nash & Klein at the deadline if the cards are right. Also possibly Zuc.
  • Buyout Girardi next offseason if demise continues. Try to trade Staal as well.
  • If Nash (and Klein) are dealt and there is amicable capspace available - look at signing Shattenkirk in the offseason if price is not outta the ballpark
Rebuild/retool is done.

We should have traded Tambellini and a conditional 3rd for Yakupov btw, Small price and risk for high ceiling

If we wanted Pokka, why didn't we just claim him when he was on waivers?

I knew he was sent down but not that he was waived. If so your point is very valid and I have no answer. And I apologize for being stupid...

EDIT
I found this link where it says Chicago "cut and sent down Pokka" but at the same time "waived and sent down Svedberg". Does that not imply that Pokka was not yet waiver eligible?

Villa Pokka was assigned to Rockford - interesting trade suggestions @BBKers.
Can we get him for picks from Hawks, thoughts?
He was obviously not NHL ready since Hawks decided to do that in their training camp.

Carolina has depth on D. Jaccob Slavin was under consideration for the North American team for the World Cup. Left-handed D. The Canes have Slavin,Hanifan,Faulk,Pesce,Fleury,McKeown and Bean.

I read this about Carolina's evaluation of players

One of Tulsky’s most oft-cited findings during that era of publishing his research was that players reach peak offensive production at around age 24, debunking scout ratings from one team – he won’t disclose which, but says it wasn’t the Hurricanes – which most highly valued players at age 29.

The effects of that finding seem to be reflected in the Canes’ current roster makeup, as five of the team’s projected 2016-17 defensemen are 24 or younger and last year’s top scorer, Jeff Skinner, also turned 24 in May.

JT Miller is 23.

Miller for Slavin for Trouba. Other players need to be moved in the deal to pay Trouba.

The Rangers acquire Trouba. Carolina gets a young forward who fits their age group. Winnipeg gets the LHD. I remember reading Ron Francis was looking at young forwards during the summer.

Girardi, on the other hand...

I have been one of Girardi's biggest critics the last 2 years, but I am surprised about the way he is playing so far. The best thing Girardi can do now, is play in a way we don't notice him. Which he is doing. Staal on the other hand... My god, he is awful. His vision is definitely holding him back.

RB, Love your brainstorming. I suspect that Gorton is right there with you. A young talented RHD is one piece that would really set this club up for the next few years. I suspect at the end of the day the Rangers salary cap room will be a huge benefit in trying to nail something down. I can't believe how many teams are under $750K available. We want Trouba!

sorry BBK
big no there
Fowler sucks

Miller is an important cog
only moved if a package returning Hanifin

let Ana discount Fowler and let's come up with alternate for Trouba

Watching 1st period of Oil vs. Flames and BOTH of these teams should be knocking down Gorts's door trying to pry Klein away from us.

EDM 2018 1st and Yakimov
for
Klein, Lindberg, Fast

^^^ Agree. We shouldn't get rid of Klein if we're trying to make a run for the playoffs.

Girardi, on the other hand...

this win now philosophy is a killer
No
trade Klein while his value is high, get an expansion exempt future

Great idea. Similar to mine with dealing in a rare three way with Anaheim - but better. Much better. There more or less has to be a third team involved if we are players for Trouba. I think a fat Axl Rosé waiting The words "all we need is just a little patience" (until the December 1 deadline Likely forces Winnipegs hand) is applicable here. Unless somehow Lindholm were to become available - but I Doubt it.

Carolina has young D. Miller fits their team building philosophy. Winnipeg wants an NHL LHD. Maybe Trouba agrees to a one year contract to get him into the lineup. Trouba is arbitration eligible next summer. The Rangers sign him to the long term contract extension in July. Miller has a $2.75M cap hit. The Rangers have $2M in cap space. Late November trade.
