They could have got him for free but now they will give up assets? I can see it in a Chicago scenario but I am confused on how it makes sense for Edmonton.

Perhaps they want him at 50% off? Possible.

That means Grabner isn't getting traded though.

I think Cowen has value in the right deal but I'd still be surprised at any sort of value back.
