If we were to get Duchene I would like to hear how Karl alzner would feel about that, since we're on his mind

Damn, they're obsessed.

So are we.

I agree with you and Brooks above that it would be an overpay that I personally wouldn't commit to, but I don't think you can realistically expect a lesser package because we don't know if that's even an option at this point.

It may be that 4 piece package is the only offer we have that would beat the offered package by the Isles or whoever else comes knocking, in which case you either bite the bullet (I hope JR doesn't in this case) or move on. Sakic isn't desperate, he'll wait til the draft as you said if he has to to get exactly what he wants.

If we get Duchene and we're not dreading what we just gave up I'll be beyond surprised if the rumors of serious competing offers is true.

I just can't remember a single player getting that kind of package recently. Hossa? Even then, those players weren't on the same caliber that guys like Guentzel, Sprong and Maatta are.

The HF price and the realistic price never seem to align. It's usually far less than people think to get it done.

Plus we got Dupuis as well, which at the time we didn't know he'd contribute so much, but there was no doubt he was a 3rd line player fwiw. You can more or less remove Dupuis and Armstrong from that deal to get a better picture of what a Hossa rental cost us.

No you're right it would likely dwarf even the Hossa trade in that case.

From my recollection I thought I read Sakic's asking price is something like a 1st, a young defensemen/goalie, a top prospect, minor piece or something along those lines. Then recently there was the tweets that the Isles have supposedly offered multiple deals that match the supposed asking price, along with other rumors of who those pieces might be.

If that's the case one might be correct in expecting an overpayment in comparison to past deals involving similar talents. Sakic holds all the cards and isn't forced to play them at this time.

I mean Shattenkirk's ridiculous price was Vrana + Bowey according to this place. For all we talk about how much HFboards overvalues prospects it's clear that the prices demanded by users is very different than the actual value.

well things aren't looking great for the moves i wanted to see. We are stuck with Fleury, Kunitz is still here. Bonino hasn't brought it to an acceptable level. Things are really going to have to come together in the next month for us to be a real threat to repeat.

I think JR is doing what he can but still having Fleury is just such a let down. And seeing 14 in the top 6 is just disgusting

On the flip side, when was the last time a 26 year old #1C with term was traded? RyJo fetched Jones. Seguin fetched a pretty good package (where a bunch of the pieces (not surprisingly) failed to meet expectations). Same with Spezza.

The HF price and the realistic price never seem to align. It's usually far less than people think to get it done.

I do not disagree. But then most COL fans are mocking any deal with Maatta or R.Murray in it, because they're "not high enough caliber" players. Where as in reality, other than perhaps a 1-1(ish) deal with Faulk, that's exactly the caliber of player Duchene will return.

Didn't know Schultz was a RFA. That's good, atleast we wont lose him for nothing.

Dumo
Sheary
Schultz

how much does each get as RFAs? Or how much does each return if we trade them because we cant sign them?

Won't that confuse people since there is no GDT for the game that is happening in a few hours?

Wait... these teams actually still have to go on the ice and play hockey? It can be hard to remember that during these few days every year. I'm all ready for the cup ceremony to be tomorrow night.

Yea, JR got a little too complacent.
Bowman told Sully, ya gotta have changes to reboot that enthusiasm.
Just having Jake do well as a rookie ain't enough change.

Bah well, atleast JR isn't Shero'ing this thing with DB as coach.

Ek was connecting James Wisniewski to Pitt??? Thoughts

Makes sense even without any sources. We wanted a RHD, he has history with JR I think.

I'm expecting nothing at this point. We have a team that just won the Cup and a stable of great forward prospects. I want a big move, and I definitely want Fleury gone, but I won't get my hopes too far up.
