You'd think an $8 million franchise winger would be able to do something when he gets in 1v1 at the top of the slot, but no. Plink, 0 effort shot from the perimeter. No compete or desire to push past anyone.
Yet some posters will still come on here and say, "Oh but he's paid to score goals and does that well", or "he just needs better players around him". Kadri is playing with Panik and Booth and looks quite a bit better than anyone on that top line.
Kessel is described as someone with great skills and a good shot. I honestly don't think he has a good shot, just a good one dimensional shot. He has a quick release on his snap shot, but that's literally all. He has no slap shot (that video means nothing) and has no one timer. Can rarely shoot the puck when in traffic, so his shot is so one dimensional.
When was the last time you guys saw Phil actually try and challenge a defender one on one, try and beat him wide and drive the net? No because it never happens, he'll just snap a shot from the outside and then do a slow curl back to the bench. Sad really, but if the Leafs ever want to turn a corner it has to be without Kessel. I used to be a big fan of him, but now it's literally impossible to cheer for this guy.
