Could this be?

How could this be?

Khaira is one of those guys who is an NHL player but isn't good enough for his qualifying offer. Someone is going to sign him for cheap as a free agent and really like the versatility and penalty killing that he brings. But he is a one million dollar guy right know, max.

Khaira’s a PK king but his 5v5 advanced metrics are consistently some of the worst of any NHL level player year in year out. Offensive black hole does not properly describe the negative xGF and possession metrics he attains.

Anything much above the league minimum for a guy this much of a specialist and this bad at even strength is overpayment.

Forsure they should.. alot of teams will want him. He's pretty effective on bottom 6 and will be very cheap

I mean at this point, wouldn't Toronto be in on ANY player willing to take a near league minimum contract?

Your Worst Nightmare
Spezza and Simmonds need someone with wheels with them and defensive minded.
I'm pretty sure that describes Khaira. He can move well for a big man, like Engvall. He is a defensive minded forward, specializing on the PK that can pop in 20 points from the 4th line without PP time. While, being the primary enforcer and team hit leader. I think he fills the role we need filled well.
