"another scoring winger"

Kuzmenko had as many goals as the next 3 wingers on this team combined. We have quantity in tweeners, but an upgrade is very much needed. Certainly not at the expense of Kuz though, as it puts us right back to the same problem. We would be shedding 1 or 2 of our current wingers to fit him, so it's really not adding bodies to postition.

Nylander is a pretty big boi too, would work well with both our top C's
Lots of fellow countrymen here to make him feel at home.
We dont need or want Nylander and his demand for a 10 million dollar per year contract. Why? Because we need to sign Pettersson to that 10 million or more per year contract, have to sign other players like Hronek and there is not much cap space for Nylander even if we wanted him. Also why get another winger and not a good 3C and a top 4 D. For the amount Nylander makes, we could trade for Pesce and a good 3rd C which would make Canucks a contender. Adding more expensive wingers is not how you win a cup.

The whole premise of this thread is dumb and should be deleted. Whats worst is Leafs fans thinking they will get a lot for soon to be UFA Nylander. Good luck with that, at best you might get a Horvat return, at worst you probably let him walk for free or sign him to a 12 mil per, 8 years contract
And good luck getting past the Oilers this year (if you miraculously make the playoffs)

How much do you think a worse player that is the same age on a two year long contract would get? Because that is the base from Vancouver here.

It makes no sense for Vancouver cause they are terrible for the next two years regardless, but it isn't for value reasons it makes no sense.

we wont know if Vancouver will be terrible still in two years. They did change a lot of the roster in the past 2 years and more changes will be coming. So I don't know how you can predict they will be terrible for the next 2 years. They might make the playoffs or miss, who knows.

Gettin WillNyl doens't mean you leave every other position as is. We just spent 2 mid-high 1sts on two shiny new RD's. A 3C is secondary. We have 2x 1st line centers, not much point in another good C if all we have is 1 legit winger to offer them.

In the event of an injury to JT or EP, we are much better off with Nylander carrying a 2nd line, then a "good 3c" straddled with tweeners. We have a 1-2 punch at every position except W.

The difference in price from a Boeser/Beu compared to an extended Nylander is well worth the difference in price. You win cups by getting good players. Bottom line players barely play when games are on the line. Willy N is a very good player.

The cap is there if the will is.

If for whatever reason Nylander is demanding 10m and won't budge a single penny he's still gonna get a bunch of stuff at the TDL.

A lot of stupid takes on Kuzmenko. Goes to show how uneducated some leafs/flames fans are on the player. You would think someone who scored nearly 40 goals from his first time in the league despite having to adjust in a newer landscape/culture would get actual respect.

Canucks pass. We are not taking extra cap. Kuzmenko's positive attitude is contagious in the locker room and his playstyle fits Petey wonderfully. Shame on OP for proposing this nonsense.

Leafs will likely trade Nylander for a d-man.

Both teams are not good trading partners. Leave it at that.

Way to take my comment out of context and run with it. No duh Sherlock, who doesn't want to upgrade and shed tweeners, have you seen how cut-throat the trade market is? Guys like Hayes get dumped for pennies on the dollar. Such a moot point, not even sure why you needed to make that.

Also Nylander's not small but not really "big" at 6'0", 196 lb. If we're going to add to complement the top C's, I'd rather get some skilled sandpaper.

It should be a non starter for the Canucks. Kuzmenko is cost controlled for a couple more years compared to what nylander will get.

I don't know their cap situation by heart but it sure feels like they could use more cost controlled scenarios, so this would be like shooting themselves in the foot.
Who cares if he is. They aren’t going to sniff
More than a wild card in that time and even if he magically continues a 40g pace he’s going to demand 12-13m per.

No the reason you are trading him is because Nylander wants 10 million plus and you know most teams wont give him that and you want to trade him for Kuzmenko plus lots of added pieces too, while Kuzmenko makes 5 mil, is younger and more affordable. Why would Canucks take that Nylander contract or future contract that could possibly go south? At the end your team will trade a pending UFA in Nylander for a lot less than Kuzmenko straight up similar to Horvat. You might get a 1st round pick, a B prospect and a 3rd line forward for him during the deadline. We will keep Kuzmenko thank you very much and you can keep predicting how he will fall down to earth and become mediocre just like how you predicted the downfall of Pettersson and Hughes lol
This is all just rubbish and deep down you know it. Like I said keep your Walmart version of Nylander and hope he can sustain a shooting percentage of 26% and we will keep our actual star player, fit him in cap wise until Tavares is done or trade him for an actual need on the back end.

If Nylander is so superior, why don't you trade your other overpaid players? The rubbish thing is Leafs fans pushing Nylander proposal while at same time wanting a king's ransom lol

Yes everything stays the same forever and Canucks will never improve just like how Leafs never will win a cup.

Trust me, most Leaf fans want to keep willy and have no interest in downgrading especially to a player who shot 26% last year. Keep your guy and best of luck, the deal is horrible for Toronto.

Absolutely I do unless there is a clear top 5 player or something. He gets 2nd PP time in Toronto and always has his minutes cut in favor of Matthews, Marner, and JT. If he goes to a team where he is the guy on PP1 and gets actual PP time as well as fed 20 minutes a night of ice time he will be a 100 point, 40-45 goal scoring winger. Might even flirt with 50 one year.

He gets 2nd PP time in Toronto? He averaged the same PP time as Matthews and Marner. He only was taken off of the 1st unit very late in the season. Lying doesn’t help get your point across.
