The Leafs don't need to be paying a goalie over 10 million a year, then have to find a way to trade that contract away in a few years

Mitch Marner for Sergei Bobrovsky and a 3rd round pick in 2021. Panthers get an all star forward while Leafs get a #1 goalie to lead them in the playoffs. Thoughts?
Just NO....bad ... Andersen is better than bobs...just bad...

If you're going to trade Marner for a 10m goalie it should be Price not Bob.

And the Habs would have to add.

This makes a lot of sense but I'd swap out Marner for Matthews and I'd change the 3rd round pick to a 6th round pick(and a dirty pair of socks).

No worse then most Toronto based proposals.

It's entirely one sided and never going to happen, of course.

It is way worse than most Toronto Proposals.

Eh. johnsson, Dermott and a late draft pick for a star player comes a lot.

Or Kapanen for a D from a team that has strong wingers and no D.

Or Kerfoot as though he has the value of a strong top six center to teams he would not be a top six center on.

Not that Bobrovsky for a comparibly paid winger that puts up great offensive numbers and is almost a decade younger is at all good value, I can't stress that enough, but welcome to what the other 30 teams' fans get on the regular.

Yeah, after this season, there is no one in the world who would want Bobrovsky @ 10 million. Not even Montreal for Price in a tit-for-tat deal, as Price is superior. It would have to be a 50 % retained type of deal with extra add-on by Florida to get rid of him.

Dubas chuckles and hangs up the phone.

Bob makes too much money.
He had worse playoff numbers than Andersen.
Marner isn't going anywhere.
And if he is, the idea would be to bring back significantly less salary to address the blue line.
If moving Marner for a big contract, it's for a d-man (or possibly for a goalie named Price).
Leafs fans would rightly riot and, once again, call for Dubas to be booted into Lake Ontario.

Just to name a few reasons why not.
