Didn't realize Nash was hurt, but that's still very good value even so. If he was healthy that's no worse than a 4th. leafs also get to extend their long term injury relief.

LTIR baby! Anderson and Nash about to open up a crap ton of cap space for Toronto as they do their best Tampa Bay impression. Great Move Dubas.

He's going to allow Toronto to "go over" the when he comes back in the playoffs, when the cap doesn't matter and play on the 4th line, in a defensive role.

Toronto who is cash rich can pay him, and Columbus who is cash conservative, won't.

There has been speculation that Andersen is done for the season with his injury. If that was the case, and with this move, if they put Fred on LTIR, they'd have over 7M in cap space they could use at the TDL. And then Freddy and nash would come back for the playoffs where there is no cap.

I was wondering if this was the big trade or if something else was going to happen.

You’re actually wondering if a conditional 7th round pick for an injured 4th liner is the big trade the Leafs are rumoured to make?

The deadline is a few days away. Trades do not need to occur in the order of how much value was exchanged per deal. But you already knew that. Along with everyone else in this thread that made the same joke before you did.

Thats a really smart trade. Even if Nash doesnt recover, you're only out a 7th... if he does, you get a player at 0 caphit who can really hold the fort on a fourth line and you're only out a 6th. Great low-risk, high-reward maneuver by Dubas.

People still don't understand the "chess" involved in these moves. Toronto used a "nothing" pick to essentially buy itself Nash's cap hit in terms of space, relative to the playoffs when he'll return in the playoffs, when the cap doesn't matter.

Schrewed move!

Riley Nash finally starts becoming decent for Columbus, and he gets traded for a 6th-7th pick. Typical...

This open space for a Taylor Hall or Jaden Schwartz type of move.

And you get a depth forward for the playoffs.
