I wouldn't have posted the thread. Its a fair conversation though. NHL.com listed Ovechkin as well outside the top 10 of offensive players in the league, and that is ridiculous. Most goals award 2 assists. So, there are around double the number of assists scored in a season than goals. Because of that its hard to value them as equals.
Setting aside the idea that other players are somehow double dipping with assists to bolster their point totals, what is ridiculous is the idea that OV, for some reason, is not eligible to accumulate assists like any other NHL player.
