Why a top 25? There are 31 teams in the league. Who are the #1 defensemen of the league?

Ristolainen and Provorov could sneak in next year. Watch how those corsi numbers start to rise for Risto. And then there's no argument to keep him out of there, at least not for long. Provorov stepped in and dragged a D partner that can't even handle himself (MacDonald) and eventually was the best Dman on his team, as a rookie.

I wouldn't put hamilton or klingberg in there. Chara still belongs imo and so does Carlson

Carlson? Klingberg and Hamilton are absolutely better than Carlson. Carlson takes sheltered minutes, puts up less points than both, and has far worse advanced stats. I can't really judge his eye test defense, but Caps fans say Niskanen is the one doing the heavy work.

Are you actually being serious? Brodie is super underrated it seems, and you've overrated every of those players. OEL is a top 10 Dman, but not that high. Ekholm and Hjalmarsson are top 45 Dman, not top 25. Ellis is a top 50 Dman.

I have been watching Ellis since his development camp and have always been amazed at how he sees the ice and his decision making. Still think he will be captain of a team someday.

I know others will disagree, but I would take Ellis over subban right now for sure. he competes at a a different level and feel he is never out of control. I am always a little nervous with subban on the ice and never am with Ellis. Ellis reminds me of suter back in the day. I always knew he would be there to make the right play.

Probably forgetting a few
EK
Hedman
Burns
OEL
Doughty
Keith
Josi
Subban
Letang
Petro
Suter
McDonagh
Vlasic
Gio
Lindholm
Slavin
Weber
Jones
Brodie
Parayko
Leddy
Hamilton
Niskanen
Trouba
Werenski

There is absolutely not 31 #1D in this league, Leddy and up are what I would consider #1D. There's guys like Provy, Werenski, Trouba, Hamilton, Skjei that have the potential for it though but aren't quite there yet
