McDavid has more hardware than all but a handful of players this decade. 1xHart, 2xArt Ross, 2xTed Lindsay, 3x1AS. I think its fair to include him in the conversation at this point. It seems weird to include a guy in "best of the decade" when he's only got 3.5 seasons under his belt. I mean, I can see the argument with 2 Art Ross and a Hart but it seems like he should go a little later considering he wasn't around for 2/3 of the decade.
for the run off I will include the players that are within 5% of the 1st place player
Claude Giroux.
4th highest point totals, 2nd most assists, 5th most games played, crazy faceoff stats... but no hardware. Still, it's best player, not best team and cumulatively over that time period it's Giroux.
-Stamkos was 5th highest points total.
-stamkos pt/gm was 1.08
- giroux had .95 pt/gm
Stamkos was 2nd in goals behind only ovechkin, and the 3rd guy wasnt even close (tavares).
And stamkos has 2 rocket Richard trophies in the past decade.
I think the next forward needs to be stamkos.
