I expect Bear will win this one pretty handily.

Let me know who I should add for the next poll.

Making a case for my guy, Joel Persson.

2nd in points for defensemen and 1st in PP points for defensemen over the last two seasons in the SHL.

Could be a legit PP option for the Oilers even as soon as next season.

Agreed, think Persson is getting underrated

Surprised Bear is still around. I hadn’t voted in the last couple. Best PPG and most even strength points of Bakersfield D men last year as the youngest regular on the team.

Honestly you could make a fairly strong case for Starrett here as well.

I've always liked him every time I've watched him play (which isn't that often mind you)... but he seems fundamentally sound and he is coming to that point where as a 24 year old.. you should start to really see what you have in him.

He had a solid regular season in the AHL (not so great numbers in the playoffs).

I think he's likely the clear #3 goalie in the Oilers system and I would have actually liked to see him get a few games with the Oilers last year when the season was lost but I understand they wanted him in Bakersfield getting as many minutes and making their push for the playoffs.

Persson is probably my choice though... seems like he could be a late bloomer that comes out of nowhere and surprises everyone... plus at 25 he should pretty much either be ready or flame out and you move on... so you'll know what you have pretty quickly if he can't at least tread water at the NHL level.

Tough for me between Persson, Lagesson and Bear. I think Lagesson is the best shot to be an NHLer so voted him. I think Persson or Bear, if they translate to the NHL at all, will likely be better. Issue is I think it's much more likely they never stick at all.

Went with Maksimov. He had 89 goals in 154 games after getting traded. That’s damn impressive. He’s fallen a bit here, and I could definitely see him skyrocket after his first pro season, like Benson did.

It’s close between him, Bear, Persson, Lagesson, and Rodrigue though

Maksimov

Add John Marino, RHD, Harvard (until Aug 15, when he can become free agent)

If Marino walks, add Phil Kemp, RHD, Yale (because, well, Marino walked and its Harvard/Yale)

I voted Lagesson. He's been quite good. Underrated in fact.

How do I know? I don't. It's a gut feeling.

He's way more NHL ready than Bear and no I'm not suggesting we plop him in the NHL next year.
If it were up to me we wouldn't see any of our top 10 prospects in the NHL next season unless they came up to cover for injuries.

I think what concerns me the most about the Oilers top 10 is that we have spent in the last 3 years 6 draft picks on goaltending prospects(traded 2 for Skinner, traded 2 for Rodrigue, traded one for Hawkey, and used one on Konovalov. What do we have to show for it? Not one goalie in our top 10. It's nice to see that we have solid prospects, especially at the defensive position, and also nice to see that the Oilers management group understands that we need to find a future at the goaltending position, but this fan base doesn't believe in any of these guys at this point.

Who was the last goalie who turned into a starting goalie under Edmonton's care? Seems like it's been over 30 years. I could be wrong. Pretty sure Tommy Salo was drafted and partially developed by Colorado.
Regardless, we need to figure out how to do that.

Devan Dubnyk. Salo was an Islander.

Dubby doesn't count imo. He didn't learn how to be a starter until he left Edmonton.
Believe what you will, but outside of his first half season with Minnesota, Dubnyk’s numbers have been no better for anyone else than they were with Edmonton, and I would argue the defense he has played behind has been substantially better since he left....but I’m not going to argue about this in this thread any more. Dubnyk was our starter, and we raised him....drove his confidence into the dirt in his last season(trade rumours, bad defense, bad goals).
