*Some of the PPP stats are skewed because there was a time when the NHL recorded PP goals, but not PP points.

Jovanovski had the highest ceiling. Ohlund will be the sentimental choice, although like Edler I feel he fell short of initial projections after a serious injury.

Honestly it's kind of a tattered history. Franchise has been around for decades and it's been a long procession of #2 and #3 guys.

Between Ohlund and Lumme for me. Could be Edler when all is said and done, depending on how he finished up his career.

All told, though, a fairly uninspiring list. Don't get me wrong, I loved a lot of these players, but it's a weak overall list.

Hockey-reference.com has PP points going back to our inaugural season.

Hamhuis should be on the poll, easily had a better career as a Canuck than Willie Mitchell.

Voted Ohlund by default.

Lumme.

Ohlund's game tanked after the lockout. Still one of our best defensemen ever.

Reinhart was solid for us too but only played 2 seasons here.

I voted Lumme by a hair, since he was Vancouver's clear #1 for many years, and never enjoyed a good defense partner (Murzyn was, even at his best, average IMO). He was also an offensive catalyst and did everything well. Drew some criticism in the lean years for his coasting but had little help.

Ohlund was certainly better defensively, a rock and a workhorse. Always left a bit wanting offensively, but was the definition of steady. IMO he and Salo might have been the best "pairing" we've ever had.

They both stand clearly above all the others.

I voted Mattias Ohlund because he contributed on both ends of the ice.

Jyrki Lumme had a lot of offensive output but his defensive play was not as good as Ohlund... he wouldn't change a game with a hit.. but did make nice clearances.

Jovo is overrated. Was out of position a lot from taking the big hit. Had a lot of emotion on the ice which I liked and disliked. Also, he was traded for the most exciting player the Canucks ever had (Pavel) so he didn't really live up to that end of the trade (not really his fault though) if you had to take everything into consideration.

Wasn't old enough to see Kearns or Snepsts played so I can't comment on those guys.

I hope Edler picks up his game and becomes the #1.. but we'll have to wait (or pray) for that to be decided.

Ohlund for me. He was an absolute rock on the blueline for so many years and could also produce points. Loved his game.
